Hello Woodsy Owls,
As we approach the winter break, I want to take a moment to thank you all for your continued support and to share a few important reminders to help our students finish the year strong.
First, let's talk about health. With the colder weather upon us, it’s important that we all continue to focus on good hygiene practices. Washing hands regularly, covering coughs and sneezes, and staying home when feeling unwell are key habits to keep our school community healthy. We want our students to stay strong and healthy so they can fully enjoy their winter break, so please encourage these habits at home.
I am also proud to report that we have seen an improvement in attendance this year! We know that regular school attendance is critical to student success, and I encourage all families to continue prioritizing consistent attendance as we head into the final weeks of the semester. Every day of learning is important!
Finally, I would like to encourage all students and families to make reading a regular part of your routine. Studies have shown that students who engage in regular reading—both inside and outside the classroom—tend to perform better academically and are more likely to graduate from college. A study from the National Endowment for the Arts found that children who read regularly are not only better equipped for academic success but are also more likely to experience lifelong learning and success in their careers. Reading opens up new worlds, and it’s never too early to develop a love for it. Whether it’s reading together as a family or setting aside time for independent reading, we encourage you to make reading a daily habit.
Thank you for helping us make this a successful and enjoyable school year for our Woodsy Owls. I wish you all a happy and healthy winter break!
I look forward to seeing many of you on the morning of December 20th to sings some Winter carols and have a surprise visit from a certain North Pole gentlemen.
Have a wonderful week.
It truly takes a village.
