Van Meter Performing Arts Boosters- UPDATE
ISASP Results
The Des Moines Register ran an article today with ISASP results for several area districts. Though we were not included in the article, we wanted to share our data again for those who have maybe not seen it.
We are proud to share that nearly 90% or more of our students have met or exceeded expectations on the Iowa state assessments this last school year, a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff. We are fortunate to have some of the best teachers in the state and our students receive the highest quality of instruction each and every day. This achievement would not have been possible without the incredible support we receive from our parents and our community.
From parents who reinforce learning at home, to local organizations that contribute resources, to teacher associates and volunteers who give their time to help our students succeed—your support makes a real difference. Together, we are ensuring that our students are well-prepared for their futures.
Thank you for being part of our success and continuing to invest in the education of our youth. Your commitment helps us provide the tools and environment our students need to thrive. We look forward to continued collaboration and even greater achievements ahead!
Please contact your child's teacher or building principal if you have any specific questions about your child's progress.
Construction Update
Site work for the new addition has started. Work will be completed that will cause a road closure on the lane entering the campus on the north west (elementary) side of the campus from 10/8 through 10/10. This closure will be for just a few days, but will require vehicles to enter the north parking lot and connect to the lane just east of the north gym. Signs will be posted to help with traffic flow.
Please use extra caution and drive safely. Also, on 10/11, part of the north lot will be closed, so adjust your route accordingly. Once the utility work is completed, these areas will be opened back up.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Lane is closed 10/8 through 10/10. Follow the route below.
10/11 lane opens, but part of the north lot is closed.
Importance of Attendance
Regular attendance is a cornerstone of your child’s success in school and beyond. Each day of learning is critical, and even a few missed days can add up, affecting academic progress and social development. In Iowa, when a student’s absences—whether excused or unexcused—reach 10% of the school year, we are required to send a formal letter to families and notify the county attorney. This new measure ensures that every child receives the necessary support to stay on track.
If absences continue and reach 15% of the grading period, we will initiate an engagement meeting involving the student, their family, and school officials. This meeting is designed to identify any barriers to attendance and develop an absenteeism prevention plan tailored to your child’s needs. We’re committed to working together to remove obstacles and help every student thrive.
However, if a student’s absences escalate to 20% of the grading period, the situation becomes more serious. At this point, the child is considered truant, and legal action may be taken by the county attorney. We want to avoid this outcome at all costs, which is why early intervention is so important. Our goal is to support students and families before absences reach this critical level.
We recognize that these procedures may be new and may feel challenging, but they are in place to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed. Thank you for your continued partnership in making regular attendance a priority.
