Featured Stories
Mrs. Lynch's Speech Language Class
This week, speech students made predictions about what disguise Turkey would use to avoid the farmer in the story “Turkey Trouble.” After reading, the class talked about what it means to be thankful and created lists of what they are thankful for. Students then used their lists to help "feather" a speech turkey. Everyone had so much fun decorating their turkeys and making them unique.
Mrs. Cote's Art Class
First-grade students explored the work of folk artist Sara Catena and created their own curvy cityscapes inspired by her style. Throughout the project, classes talked about color, balance, and shape. Students did a great job, and their work turned out amazing!
Ms. Bielawski's Technology Class
This week, first and second graders participated in Thanksgiving STEM activities while working on the "Engineering Design Process".
In one activity, students were challenged to build a table that was both long enough and strong enough to hold all the food for the Pilgrims and Native Americans to share. In another activity, some classes worked on creating a turkey retreat to keep the turkey safe from being caught for Thanksgiving dinner.
Students had a great time with their activities! Afterwards, there was much thoughtful conversation about how to improve their designs and try new strategies.
PBIS Corner
Classroom Popcorn Party & Movie
Mrs. Whitsel's classroom has been very supportive of each other. They have gone above and beyond to help one another, especially when a friend is having a rough day. As a result of their kindness, the class earned a popcorn party with a movie. The popcorn machine was placed in their classroom and they were able to "serve themselves"! One student even made the statement "this is the best day of my life!!" We are so proud of them.
Counselor's Update
Mrs. Hamm has been going into all of the classrooms at North and working on skills the children need to be happy and successful in school. Each grade level worked on a different skill.
First Grade
First graders discussed cotton ball words vs. sandpaper words and how using cotton ball words can spread kindness.
Second Grade
Second graders are learning how to use The Peace Process to solve problems with friends quickly on their own.
Kindergarten
Kindergarteners continue to learn about the Zones of Regulation. They have been practicing Five-finger breathing and Rainbow breathing as calm down strategies.

Reason(s) I chose to pursue my position at Midview Local Schools: I chose to teach kindergarten because I feel kindergarten teachers are the building blocks of education. We have a very important job of setting up students for success. We teach the students how to be "students" and set expectations for their educational careers. We begin to give them the "tools" and foundation they will need for future grade levels.
Some of my hobbies/interests outside of my career: I enjoy gardening, reading, fishing, and spending time with my family.
