Reminder about updated Iowa Public Health guidelines on masks and face shields
As has been shared previously, on September 29, 2020, The Iowa Department of Public Health notified schools and public health departments of a change in the Iowa’s quarantine requirements for people that have been identified as “potentially at risk of exposure” to a positive case of COVID-19 through contact tracing. This change went into effective as of September 29, 2020.
One area of potential confusion for families and students is the IDPH's definition of an acceptable face covering. As per their guidance on 9.29.20, any type of mask or face covering that covers the mouth and nose is acceptable; however, a plastic face shield does NOT “qualify” according to Public Health. Students or staff who wear a plastic face shield and are identified as “potentially at risk of exposure” of COVID-19 would still be required to quarantine. A summary of the full guidance from IDPH on 9.29.20 can be found at this link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zvYetIuMuo-5Op_WzAxxZn_4V6LHFzuOLSElEfo2cxw/edit?usp=sharing

Please help us spread the word and if you can, plan on coming out to see what we're about and get involved! (There will be plenty of room to spread out in the East Room of the Library)
We need people in the community to get involved and help out with the club, as most of our founding members have children who have graduated, and we need new blood! We only meet every other month and as a policy we try to limit our activities to a few big ones each year!
Please mark your calendars and come out to join us!

Download "Varsity Bound" Sports App To Follow Trojan Athletics!
NEW SPORTS APP
New app
The athletic department is partnering with a new app built by the same Iowa technology group that built Quik Stats Iowa and Tourney Machine, it’s called Varsity Bound. In the app, you'll be able to see schedules scores, rosters, game previews, game recaps and box scores of every game.
What I like about this app is that it organizes the stuff we all need to know like schedules and directions. But it also has rosters, team stats and when a coach or we post a score this is the first place you’ll find it.
● Varsity Bound is Free to fans thanks to your athletic department.
● You can download it free on both the Android Market place in September and now on the Apple App Store.
● The app is also going to give us a way to communicate with you, so please allow for notifications.
Because the app is being used by our conference and most of the State, the app is like a digital program. Not only does it have both teams rosters, but it gives a game preview based on all the stats the teams have entered in.
Finally, the app is a lot like the ESPN or Major League Baseball app. You can follow our High or other schools in the app and keep a check on how the entire conference is doing. Additionally, you can see statewide daily scores, conference and district standings, stat leaders, state tournament brackets all in the app and websites.
What we like about Varsity Bound is that they working to create one place where everyone in high school sports comes together. And like us, they have in mind—creating the best experience for high school athletes, and uniting the community around high school athletics.
Please download Varsity Bound today and share it with other fans. There is a fan leaderboard so I want to make sure we get to the on the top!

Sign Up to Receive Pleasantville JMC Messenger Emergency Messages
In the event of severe weather or emergencies that require school late starts, early dismissals, or cancellations, the District will send immediate notice to parents and families.
Effective 9.19.19, Pleasantville Community School District will no longer use the Remind 101 texting app and will be switching to the “JMC Messenger” system for emergency notices.
JMC Messenger will provide Pleasantville Schools the capability to call and send text and voice messages directly to cell and home phones in the event of adverse weather or emergency situations that require school late starts, early dismissals, or cancellations.
The JMC Messenger system gives parents/guardians more control over how they receive information and alerts from the school. Parents/guardians (and students, if desired by parents) will be able to receive a phone call, text message and/or email messages from the school through the JMC messenger system when emergencies arise.
By default, all family members listed in JMC as “primary 1” and “primary 2” are setup to receive text messages about weather and emergency information. Information and step-by-step directions on how to update or change your contact information and preferences in JMC can be found below.
*Although JMC Messenger alerts are a free service, standard data and texting rates may apply.
