The Soaring Eagle News (Week 5)
Week 5 (9/23- 9/29)
Happy Fantastic Friday!!
What a fantastic week we’ve had! It was amazing to see so many of you come out for Mad Science Night, where families engaged in fun, hands-on science activities. We had 262 people attend, which is an incredible turnout! Thank you for making it such a success!
Due to today’s remote learning day, progress reports will be sent home with students on Monday—please be on the lookout for them. Additionally, next week we will be sending out information on how to sign up for Parent/Teacher Conferences. These conferences will be a great opportunity to hear about your child’s progress and learn how to further support them at home.
Upcoming Events and Reminders:
Parent Corner: This week’s focus is on the Alderman School Compact. We encourage all families to review this document, which outlines the shared responsibility between school and home to support student success. Your partnership is key in helping our students thrive!
PTA Meeting: Join us for our next PTA meeting this Tuesday. We will be discussing upcoming events and ways to continue fostering our strong school community. Your participation makes a difference!
Grade Level News: Be sure to check out your child’s grade-level updates to stay informed about classroom activities and any important upcoming dates.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement. Have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing our Eagles SOAR even higher next week!
PARENT CORNER: Alderman School Compact
This week our Mad Science night was a hit. Thank you to all who came out and participated in the many fun stations. Mad Science Night is part of what we call a Title 1 night where we get families in the building to build engagement and provide information about our school. During the Mad Science night you received our Alderman School Compact which is an agreement that families, students, and teachers develop together. It explains how families and teachers work together to ensure ALL students are successful. Over the next couple of newsletters, we will highlight aspects of the compact starting with our School’s Goals which are:

At Alderman Elementary, we believe that strong, two-way communication with parents is key to fostering a positive and successful learning environment for all students. As part of our ongoing commitment to collaboration, we’ve created a form to gather your thoughts, ideas, and concerns. This form will be available in each newsletter, and we encourage you to complete it anytime you have feedback. Your input will help guide decisions made by our school leadership team as we work together to support our students. Thank you for being a valued partner in the education of our children!

Volunteer Information
All volunteers, both Levels 1 and 2, must complete volunteer training each school year.
We love our volunteers! Whether you want to assist in a classroom, lead a small group, attend a field trip, or simply help in an area around the school, we need you to complete the application process to ensure you are either a Level 1 or Level 2 volunteer!
Our Level I volunteers work under the continual supervision of school staff. If willing to serve our school as a Level I Volunteer, you will need to complete the following steps:
- Read all of the information in this presentation, Volunteer Orientation, and the NHCS Volunteer Handbook (we will get this to you as soon as it becomes available).
- Complete the Volunteer Orientation Assessment with a score of 80% or higher.
After completing Level I certification and if you are willing to complete Level II requirements, please complete a Background Check Application. Background checks cost $22.50 and are valid for three (3) years. Our Level 2 Volunteers may work alone with students and may not always be with a staff member.
General Guidelines after receiving district clearance to serve as a volunteer:
- Please have your photo ID ready when coming to campus to either sign in.
- When volunteering, please respect the instructional day and stay within your volunteer area.
