Pirates Post

Our band successfully competed at the Crystal Coast Band Classic on Saturday. They were recognized as the best color guard and visual performance group at the event. The band also earned 2nd place honors for musical performance, general effect, and overall performance. The band has had an amazing season under the direction of Mr. Evan Copeland and we look forward to continued growth and excellence for our Marching Pirates.

Our volleyball team saw their incredible season come to an end on Saturday in the third round of the playoffs. Congratulations to Coach Kristie Thach and all of our players for an outstanding season.

Two of our cross country runners, Jayden White and Coley Drew, qualified for the state championships over the weekend. Good luck to both of them as they run next Saturday in Kernersville.

Our football team closed out the regular season on Monday night with a win over South Creek. They will host a first round playoff game versus Northwest Halifax on Friday night. Good luck to our players and coaches in the playoffs.

As we head into another week full of opportunity at Perquimans County High School there are several items that you may want to be aware of.

On Monday we have Picture Day. Students should not wear green for picture day. In order to make sure that every student gets their picture taken we will call them down by homeroom. Students should report to the gym lobby when their homeroom is called. A flyer with more information can be located on our school Facebook page. Our Soccer team will travel to Lakewood High School for a first round playoff game. Good luck to our players and coaches in the playoffs. Basketball tryouts also begin on Monday. The girl's basketball tryouts will be held right after school in the gym starting at 3:30. Boys basketball tryouts will start at 4:45 in the gym. Boys should be dressed and in the hallway behind the gym by 4:30. Masks are required and personal water bottles are recommended. In order to be able to try out for the girls or boys, team potential players should have a current physical on file, have all rank one forms updated, and be eligible academically. Please see Mrs. Amanda Lankford for any questions regarding rank one forms or physical forms.

Wednesday during WIN time all students will complete STAR math testing. It is important for students to do their best on this test as it will help to determine the remediation and/or enrichment needed to personalize their education. On Wednesday night at 7:00 our Pirate Players return to the stage in a production of "A Family Reunion to Die For". Mrs. Grace Jones and her students have been preparing this play for over two months and this will the debut. Tickets are available from a member of the play, through Mrs. Jones, or at the door. Doors will open at 6:15 PM on Wednesday. Come out and see our talented actors and actresses on stage.

Thursday there will be an encore performance of the play "A Family Reunion to Die For". If you are not able to attend on opening night this is your chance to see our students perform the first play at our school in almost two years. Doors will open again at 6:15 PM.

Friday our HOSA club will host a blood drive for the American Red Cross. The community is welcome to donate but are asked to register online if possible.

Parents and students, as we examine our data from the first nine weeks one trend in abundantly clear. Those students who attend school regularly each day are also the students who are experiencing the most success in their classes. We have six weeks left in the semester. Now is the time to correct poor attendance and to get work done on a daily basis so that each of you can be successful in all of your classes. We are here to help but the work must get done for success to be realized.

Theatre> "A Family Reunion to Die For" Opens this week! Don't miss a chance to see the show on Wednesday, November 3rd, or Thursday, November 4th. Both shows begin at 7 P.M. and will run for approximately 2 hours. Doors open at 6:30. Tickets will be sold in the cafeteria Monday and Tuesday, and then at the door both nights. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. Please support the drama department by attending the show and show your support for your fellow classmates.

Spanish Club>

ENGLISH

The Spanish club has been working on Cultural awareness. During the last couple of weeks, we ate delicious Hispanic food including sopaipillas (are a kind of fried pastry and a type of quick bread served in several regions of Latin America and Spain) cooked by Kiana Colter. We also share arepas that are tasty South American cornmeal patties typical from Colombia cooked by Ms. Osuna.

On Wednesday, Nov. 3rd, the Spanish Club wants to celebrate the Day of the Dead sharing with PCHS students and Staff some Latin candies, you can learn about the history of this day and you will be able to have wonderful pictures with the amazing decoration made by the students.

Join the celebration on Nov. 3rd during Lunchtime in the cafeteria.

El club español ha estado trabajando en la sensibilización cultural. Durante las últimas semanas, comimos deliciosa comida hispana incluyendo sopaipillas (una especie de hojaldre frito y un tipo de pan rápido que se sirve en varias regiones de América Latina y España) cocinada por Kiana Colter. También compartimos arepas que son sabrosas empanadas de harina de maíz sudamericanas típicas de Colombia cocinadas por la Sra. Osuna.

El miércoles 3 de noviembre, el Club de Español quiere celebrar el Día de Muertos compartiendo con los estudiantes y el personal de PCHS algunos dulces latinos, puedes aprender sobre la historia de este día y podrás tener maravillosas fotografías con la increíble decoración. hecho por los estudiantes.

Únase a la celebración el 3 de noviembre durante la hora del almuerzo en la cafetería.
