Welcome Back To School!
It has been a pleasure to see our students quickly adapting and embracing the new school year. Their enthusiasm and positive energy have filled our hallways, setting the tone for a fantastic year ahead. We look forward to a year of learning, growth, and great memories. Welcome to the Central Elementary family—we're so glad you're here!
Introducing Jett!
Jett is a two year old GoldenDoodle. He lives with his handler, Jenny Blackwell, the assistant principal of Central Elementary. Jett is under the care of Little Woods Animal Clinic and is groomed regularly by Crystal Rose Grooming. He comes to school every day and loves to see the students and staff.
Jett began his school career journey when he was only seven weeks old. He was hand-selected by trainer, Kathie Ball of Loving Dog Training, after a thorough puppy assessment. She began his puppy training and Jett quickly obtained his first certification. With nearly two years of intensive, weekly training, Jett has completed Canine Good Citizen training and he passed his Public Access Assessment in the summer of 2023. In the spring of 2024, Jett was assessed by state evaluator, Andrea Salsberry, and he earned his Educational Assistance Dog certification.
Jett helps in a lot of different areas at school. Jett provides emotional assistance to students and staff on a daily basis. He greets students coming off of the buses in the mornings, walks students to class, cheers up students if they are sad, and he is a friend to everyone. He has access to the hallways and classrooms, offices and the cafeteria. He is fully identifiable with his Service Dog attire and is most often guided by Mrs. Blackwell.
Teachers and staff recognize students weekly for demonstrating the positive behavior traits listed on our Behavior Matrix. Students can earn Jett All-Star Awards all throughout the year. Students receive a Jett collector card and have their picture taken with him, and the pictures are shared on our social media outlets.
Jett loves the students and staff at Central Elementary. He spends lots of hours and long days checking on his friends. He is protective and may exhibit a warning groan if he is unsure of a visitor or if he cannot see a visitor’s face. Please be patient with him as he gets more comfortable with visitors in the building.
If there is any reason you or your child do not feel comfortable interacting with Jett, please complete the form linked here and return it to your teacher. If you are comfortable with Jett, there is nothing you need to do.
Sincerely,
Jenny Blackwell, Assistant Principal/Handler
Lost & Found
We have a Lost and Found located at the front of our building at Central Elementary. If your child has misplaced any items, please encourage them to check the Lost and Found. Parents are also welcome to stop by the office, and we will be happy to assist you in taking a look.
We have really enjoyed the temperatures this week and our students have enjoyed playing outside. As the high temperatures return, we often have to turn to indoor recess.
Indoor recess happens when weather conditions or safety concerns prevent outdoor play. During this time, students enjoy activities like board games, creative projects and interactive games in a safe environment.
Our goal is to provide a fun and active break for your child, even indoors. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.
