MARINER WEEKLY!!
August 28th, 2024
WELCOME BACK!!
Good Morning Mariners!
I'd like to begin by welcoming all of our students and staff back to school as well as extending a warm welcome to our newest Mariners in the Class of 2028! It was great to meet our new freshmen and their parents last week at Orientation. Based on first impressions, I am confident that The Class of 2028 will build a fantastic story over the next four years!
Our staff has been working hard to prepare the building for the start of the 2024-2025 school and we couldn't be more excited to get started, helping each of our students work to become the best versions of themselves. I encourage all of our young women and men to stretch and challenge themselves to improve both in and outside of the classroom! The growth will be amazing!
In this newsletter, I've tried to put together all of the information needed get off to a good start and to make this year a great one! I look forward to see all of our parents and guardians on Wednesday, September 25th for Visit The School Night at 6:00pm! This is a wonderful opportunity for you to meet your child's teachers and begin the year on a positive note. Hope to see you there!
Pop out to our first home football game against the Raiders of High School East on Friday, September 6th at 6:00pm

NEW SCHOOL INITIATIVES
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our district-wide Kindness Campaign, an initiative aimed at nurturing a culture of kindness and empathy among our students, staff, and community. Kindness is a fundamental value that enhances our school environment and positively impacts everyone’s well-being. The year-long campaign is designed to encourage students to engage in acts of kindness, big and small, throughout their daily lives. By promoting kindness, we hope to foster an inclusive, supportive, and respectful atmosphere in our schools.
MARINER MEDALLIONS
These coins will be used as incentives to reward students who demonstrate the positive academic and social behaviors that we expect of our students. Further information will be given to students during the first weeks of school.
SCHOOL ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL
The first day of school for our 1831 students will begin Thursday, September 5th at 7:15am. Please make every effort to arrive early. If you arrive to our campus after 7:00am, you will definitely encounter traffic and risk being late! Taking your time and being aware will ensure that everyone arrives safely.
We ask that those on buses arrive at their stops early with a printed bus pass. Be patient, as it will take a few days to settle back into our normal routine.
For those students who will be dropped off at school via family vehicle, please enter through our main entrance and proceed towards the rear of the building. Please make a left around the back of the building near the softball field. Students will be dropped off outside of Door 18 near the gym. Once you arrive in the drop off zone you will be instructed, by an administrator, to release your child. Cars will then proceed around the building in a counter clockwise direction to exit via Bay Avenue or Old Freehold Road. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THROUGH THE STUDENT PARKING LOT.
TO OUR STUDENTS WHO DRIVE: Please be sure to obtain a parking pass in order to be permitted to parent on campus. You may sign up for a pass online by visiting the High School North page on our district website, www.trschools.com. After registering, bring the $5.00 cost to the main office AND BE SURE TO PICK UP YOUR PARKING PASS IN THE SECURITY OFFICE IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY DONE SO.
DISMISSAL (1:35pm): Buses will assemble outside the media center entrance. As riders meet their buses, no cars will be permitted in the area. Students who are being picked up should meet their families in the back of the building outside of door 18 (same area as during AM dropoff). Once the buses leave our campus, cars will be permitted to exit.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
ATTENDANCE - WAKE UP! GET UP! SHOW UP!
As we have regularly discussed, regular, on time attendance is the greatest predictor of academic success. Students who accumulate absences and lates put themselves in danger of failing but also at risk for losing credit for their courses. Unless a sudent is ill, they are encouraged to be in school, on time, everyday.
CODE OF CONDUCT
Please review the Code of Conduct policy listed on our school’s website (https://www.trschools.com/parents/docs/2019/09/Code-of-Conduct.pdf). We ask that students dress for school in accordance with our Dress Code Policy #5511. As always, cell phones, earbuds, and other electronic devices should not be visible or audible during classroom instruction. Thank you in advance for speaking with your child regarding the importance of maintaining an academic atmosphere!

Buses will pick up vocational students outside our front entrance and transport them to and from their vocational school. Vocational bus shuttles will be provided to each of the following locations: OTC (Waretown), NLC (Lakehurst), TRC (Toms River), BTC (Brick), JTC (Jackson).
