December 2024 District Dispatch
Hello Viking Community,
Dear Vikings,
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. As we dive into a short month before a much-deserved winter break, I wanted to share some updates and highlights from the Ridge.
November was a busy and exciting time! We celebrated Veterans Day, honoring the families and individuals who have served our country with courage and dedication. Our Middle School musical production of The Wizard of Oz was a resounding success, showcasing the incredible talent of our students. A special shout-out to Ava Travis for her outstanding performance on the basketball court, scoring an impressive 37 points in a single game—a new school record!
As we look ahead, I want to share some important news about leadership changes at Northridge High School. Our principal, Mr. Joe Rowe, has announced his retirement effective December 31, 2024. After being on medical leave from July to October and facing ongoing health challenges, he has made the difficult decision to step down to focus on his well-being. Mr. Rowe’s impact on our students, staff, and community has been profound, and we are incredibly grateful for his years of service.
I’m also pleased to announce that Mrs. Rebecca Brechbill will step into the role of principal at Northridge High School. Many of you already know Mrs. Brechbill from her 22 years in the district, first as a PE teacher at Northridge High School and most recently as the assistant principal at NES. She is calm, steady, approachable, and deeply committed to building strong relationships. She’s also a familiar face to many of our high school students, having taught them during their K-5 years. We are excited to have her leadership as we move forward.
Thank you for your continued support and for being such an integral part of Northridge. Wishing you a smooth finish to the year and a joyful holiday season ahead.
Warm regards,Dr. Kristine Michael
