Dear Parents/Carers,
I cannot quite believe that we have got to the last week of the Spring Term already. This term has flown by and Easter is approaching fast. As ever, there are many things I wish to share with you so that you get a flavour of what has been happening in school.
I would like to start by sharing that the total raised for Comic Relief was £439.35. This is a wonderful amount and I know will go some way to supporting various causes linked to The Red Nose Appeal. Thank you for taking the time to donate and for your contributions towards the ‘Bake Something Funny For Money’ bun sale.
A few Memorable Moments
This week, I was absolutely blown away by when a member of my ECO Team brought in a bug hotel that she had made with her Grandad. The quality and thought that has gone into making this is fantastic. Evie has written a set of instructions for others to construct their own if they so wish. Well done to Evie and Grandad. This is a super effort and one that the bugs will certainly enjoy in our nature garden.
I have recently bought a set of reading books, newly published, for our pupils to borrow to read at home. These books are displayed outside my office so the children can pick them up, read the blurb and decide if they want to have a read. These children have recently read a book, returned it and have swapped it for another to take home over the Easter! Well done! Please do encourage your children to have a look at the display. Further books will be bought in the Summer Term.
This week, Year 6 invited me into class to have a look through their Art Sketch Books. They have been working extremely hard to complete Perspective Drawings and I was delighted to see their final pieces. I am sure you will agree that the quality is superb. Well done Year 6!
This Week
Easter Bonnet Parade
On Thursday, our EYFS pupils paraded through the school wearing their Easter bonnets! We had some amazing creations and the pupils were extremely proud to wear their bonnets to show the rest of the school. Our Junior Leaders chose the winning bonnets. Well done to our first prize winner Finlay and our runners up Arabella and Georgie .
Easter Egg Competition
The Easter Egg creations this year were so well executed and at such a high quality that the Junior Leaders had a very difficult time choosing the winners today. With much deliberation, they decided on these worthy winners. Well done!
PAT Games Champions
It gives me great pleasure to announce that the pupils at Larks Hill have won the PAT Games Championship medal this term for attendance, spirit and performance. Overall, we achieved 138 points which puts us in 1st position above the other primaries in the Trust. Mr Appleyard, CEO, will visit us in the Summer Term to present us with our trophy. Well done to all those who took part this term and thank you to all parents/career who took children to the events – we could not do this without you.
Year 5/6 Open Doors and Year 6 Sats Evening
Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended our ‘Open Door’ events this week. I am sure that you were impressed with the work on show and how hard your children are working.
Thank you also to those who attended the Year 6 Sats meeting with Miss Howard. I am sure that much was gained from this meeting. If you have any further questions with regard to the assessments, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Happy Healthy Holidays
On a final note, we are mixed with emotions today as we say goodbye to Miss Whale who starts her Maternity Leave. Miss Whale is an integral part of our team here at Larks Hill and I know will be missed by pupils, parents and staff alike. We wish her all the best as she embarks on this wonderful journey to motherhood and hope that she comes to visit us soon and as often as she can with her little bundle of joy.
I hope that you have a wonderful Easter break with your families. Thank you for all your support over this term. Your attendance at our events and generous contributions towards school fund raising or charity events does not go unnoticed. Please stay safe, enjoy the Spring weather and I look forward to seeing you when we return on Monday 8th April.
Yours Sincerely,
Mrs Adams
