Elizabeth Silvay (National Merit Scholarship)
Congratulations to our very own Elizabeth Silvay being named a winner in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program, earning a prestigious National Merit Scholarship.
Elizabeth is one of just 2,500 high school seniors nationwide to receive this honor, recognizing the most academically talented students in the United States. These National Merit $2500 Scholarship winners were selected from a pool of more than 15,000 Finalists for their outstanding academic record, leadership, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
Elizabeth plans to pursue a career in chemical engineering and has committed to attending Dartmouth College in the fall. At LFHS, Elizabeth is a dedicated member of the Math Team, French Club, JV Tennis, and Track & Field, in addition to being a downhill ski racer with the Wilmot and Aspen Valley Ski Clubs, and being named to the Illinois Ski Team at the Western High School Championship earlier this year. Please join us in congratulating Elizabeth on this prestigious achievement!
Lake Bluff District 65 Summer Book Club
Dear Lake Bluff Community,
As May unfolds, we're filled with gratitude for a school year rich in creativity, community, and growth. Thank you for being a vital part of this journey.
We're especially excited about Sunrise Rocks 2025, happening on Saturday, May 24, at Sunrise Park. It's a celebration of music, connection, and the generosity that fuels opportunities for Lake Bluff students. We hope to see you there!
Looking ahead, we’re also gearing up for our Summer Book Club Conversation this August featuring “The Gift of Failure.” This is a great way to come together and discuss issues facing our students. RSVP is encouraged so you can receive all the conversation starters directly throughout the summer. You can get details about the reading material further down in this bulletin.
This week is Staff Appreciation Week! It's not too late to send a note of gratitude to a LB65 staff member or even an educator who made a difference in your life.
As always, thank you for supporting creativity, excellence, and opportunity in our schools.
Every Student, Every Day,
Dr. Lisa Leali

LFHS Foundation Luncheon Recap
LFHS Friday Morning News
Sunrise on the Rocks
Sunrise Rocks at Sunrise Park in Lake Bluff, Illinois has always had a philanthropic aspect, donating funds to various local organizations over the years benefiting The Zachary Porter Foundation, The Alliance for Excellence & Bluffers in Need Fund.
The Zachary Porter Fund honors and celebrates the life of a wonderful young man who leaves a meaningful impact on the community he cherished. Zach was acutely aware of how fortunate he was to grow up here in Lake Bluff, valuing the benefit of attending excellent educational institutions and always grateful for the opportunity to pursue any of his many interests. Zach wanted other children to experience those same opportunities. The Zachary Porter Fund will help subsidize enrichment activities, including music lessons, sports, park programs, and outdoor field trips, for kids who would not otherwise have the access to the same opportunities.
For over 25 years, the community of Lake Bluff has generously donated to The Alliance for Excellence providing funds to support the teachers and children of the Lake Bluff Public School District.
In the Village of Lake Bluff, every student's journey toward learning and growth is a story worth nurturing. The Bluffers In Need Fund stands as a testament to our collective commitment to ensure no student walks their educational path hindered by lack of resources. Managed with care by our district, this fund directly addresses the immediate needs of our students, making a tangible difference in students’ lives each year.

[LAKE FOREST, IL] – Lake Forest Community High School (LFHS) proudly inducted three distinguished alumni into its Wall of Fame during a special ceremony on April 14, 2025. This event marked the first induction since 2019, following the pandemic, and served to reinvigorate a cherished LFHS tradition that began in 2005.
“We’re thrilled to bring back this event and celebrate three outstanding Scouts who’ve made exemplary contributions in their fields,” said Lesley Fisher, LFHS Alumni Association Coordinator. “Their inspiring stories are a powerful reminder of what is possible for our Lake Forest Community High School students.”
At the ceremony in the LFHS Raymond Moore Auditorium, Carla Neuschel Wyckoff (Class of ‘66), Margaret McMullan (Class of ‘78), and Clark Sommers (Class of ‘95) took the stage smiling as their families, LFHS junior and senior classes, former inductees, Alumni Ambassadors, and the LFHS community watched with pride from the audience. Their plaques will be placed on the LFHS Wall of Fame.
The three honorees were chosen by the LFHS Wall of Fame Selection Committee. “We look for individuals who have made a significant and lasting impact in their profession and community,” said Carolyn Konz, LFHS faculty and Wall of Fame Selection Committee member.
