MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Franklin Students and Families,
Spring break is here! I wish everyone a safe and restful week. The week after spring break is the last week of the third quarter. There is no school on April 4th and April 7th for teacher grading and planning. We will be mailing out report cards to everyone each quarter, even if you did not opt in to that option.
We are so excited for the class of 2025! There is a MANDATORY senior class meeting on Thursday, April 3rd during tutorial in the auditorium. We will cover all the details leading up to graduation, including the 60-day rule, prom, cap & gown orders and more. Parents and caregivers, be on the lookout for a senior class information sheet with important dates that will be emailed to senior families on Friday, April 11th.
Thank you and see you on March 31st.

SCHOOL NEWS
NEW: Updated A/B Calendar
The A/B calendar has been updated to reflect the added snow days at the end of the 2024-2025 school year. It can be viewed above or on the FHS website here.
Important Reminder: PE Locker Security
Please ensure that your student brings a lock to use for the gym lockers during PE. If you need to purchase one, they are available through the bookkeeper. Additionally, we’d like to remind families that, as stated in the 2024-2025 Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook, the school is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items.
Please review the following excerpt from the handbook:
Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Property: PPS does not replace or reimburse for student property that is lost, stolen, or damaged while at school. All items, including electronics, bicycles, and skateboards, are brought to school at the owner’s risk. Please note that lockers are not secure places to store valuable items.
NEW: Spring Blood Drive
Join us for the Spring Blood Drive at Franklin High School and help save lives! The event will take place on Thursday, April 24th (A-Day), from 8:30am-1:30pm in the auxiliary gym by appointment.
If you're 16 or older, you are eligible to donate, but 16-year-olds must have a parental consent form, which can be picked up from the front office. By donating, you'll not only be making a difference but also enjoying some perks! Snacks and drinks are provided, plus pizza during lunch for donors. You'll also receive a cool t-shirt as a thank you for your life saving generosity. Sign up here to be part of this meaningful cause. If you have any questions, reach out to @franklinredcross on Instagram or visit redcrossblood.org for more details. Give blood, give hope, and make a difference—right here at school!NEW: French Exchange Student Opportunity
Franklin has a unique opportunity to host a small group of high school visitors from Annecy, France from April 12th-28th. These French students study in the “International Section” of their high school and aspire to observe life in the United States, practice their English, and share French language & culture with our families.
This program exists because of families opening their homes & lives to share with and learn from these young people. At school, French visiting students shadow their host siblings and other students during the school day. They participate, when able, in classroom activities and discussions. Outside of school, host families share their daily lives with their visiting French student. Cooking, grocery shopping, family-game night, sporting events, and weekend outings are all culturally enriching activities for our French visitors.
Visiting Students…
are dedicated to improving their English (most have very good language skills already and want to practice oral & listening skills)
desire to become a contributing member of the family (share conversations, cook a meal, help with dishes, attend their host siblings afterschool programming, et cetera)
hope to make life-long friends from the U.S.
are enthusiastic to experience school in the U.S.
bring their own spending money
have insurance coverage (medical & liability)
Host Families…
provide Room & Board, and an inviting atmosphere
have contact with a high-schooler that the visiting student can shadow at school
include the visiting student in their interests, activities, and daily lives
help the visiting student acclimate to life in the U.S.
are prepared to make a life-long connection and expand their horizons!

Italy Exchange Opportunity
Ergon has an amazing opportunity for you to host an Italian student and enjoy a true cultural exchange. Your child will be invited to Italy in the summer of 2026! Ergon specializes in a rigorous selection process ensuring that students are responsible, adaptable, respectful, and willing to integrate in their host family. Students are fully insured and arrive with credit cards for all expenses, including recreation activities and vacations. We devote great care to matching students with host families. For parents and children alike, the experience of sharing their home with an Italian student often leads to lifelong friendships. To complete the cultural exchange, your son or daughter will enjoy an-all expense paid vacation to visit the family of your Italian student in the summer of 2026. Ergon sponsors the flight!
Angelica, Federica, Anna, Lucia are looking forward to their dream coming true of being exchange students in the US and living with an American family next fall semester. Thanks for considering welcoming one of them at your home! You can make a change in their life, but also in yours!
Chiara is immensely enjoying her exchange experience at Franklin HS. Contact her host family to know more! Sally Rivard, sallysrivard@gmail.com, will be happy to share their experience with you. To learn more, please e-mail info@ergon-se.org and visit www.ergon-se.org. Thank you!
Healthy Choices Bulletin
The Healthy Choices Bulletin is a monthly summary of substance use prevention resources that PPS puts together to share with students and families. Most of the titles and images are linked to fliers and websites. We want to encourage families to take the time to read through the Bulletin.
National Honor Society Food Drive
National Honor Society (NHS) is hosting a food drive from Monday, March 17th through Thursday, April 3rd with everything being donated to Franklin families. We are specifically collecting canned foods such as beans, tuna, vegetables, soups and meats as well as sealed dried beans and rice.
Student Opportunity for Vending at the Rose City Flea
We are so excited to announce the second annual Rose City Flea Market on Sunday, June 1st. Led by students, for students. Last year we had over 100 student vendors at this event and we are currently recruiting student vendors for the 2025 market! Due to limited space, students must apply to be a vendor, and if selected, then are required to purchase a booth at the market.
A single 10'x10' booth costs $40, and a double 10'x20' booth costs $55. Booth prices will go up by $15 on Thursday, March 20th. Deadline to sign up and pay is Monday, May 5th or when spots fill up. We recommend multiple students work together to run a booth to help cover costs.
After operation costs the money fundraised from booth deposits will be donated directly to a non-profit that focuses on promoting sustainability within our city. Profits made from individual sales will go directly to the students running the booth. If you know a student interested please let them know about this incredible opportunity.
This event offers a dynamic platform to empower high school students in the PPS district by providing an opportunity to showcase creativity, passions, and entrepreneurial skills through a flea market event. We aim to bridge the gap between schools and the community, fostering collaboration and connections among students while promoting sustainable shopping practices.
