Congratulations Samantha Howell, Principal, MLK Jr. Elementary School
The Yakima School District is pleased to announce the selection of Samantha Howell as Principal of Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, effective today, July 1, 2024.
Samantha was born and raised in Yakima. She is a proud Yakima School District alumna, attending Gilbert, Wilson, and Eisenhower. She attended Whitworth University, receiving her undergraduate degree in Theology. Samantha returned to Yakima for her Master’s in Teaching from Heritage University. Her Master's in Educational Leadership is from Western Governors University.
Samantha taught math at Wilson Middle School and is currently the Assistant Principal. As a building leader, she has overseen ASB and leadership, PBIS, and the CAVS committee (the school's social-emotional learning committee). She is passionate about helping students succeed and experience fulfillment, watching them grow and benefit from this support. She hopes to continue similar work as a building leader at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School and is excited to connect with students, staff, and families.
Samantha and her husband have two little boys, Elijah (6) and Chase (4). The Howell family enjoys traveling, sports, and spending time with extended family.
