Another school year is now here! We welcome all returning and new students & their families to our school. We are looking forward to a fabulous year together! Please see the following information for important news regarding our back to school plan for next week!

GRADE 1, 2 & 3 STUDENTS

JSM students will have staggered start dates, with only half of each grade one, two and three class attending school the first two days. This will allow teachers to work with smaller groups of students as they get to know each other and learn new routines and expectations.

Each grade one, two and three student will be invited to attend school on either the Tuesday OR Wednesday of the first week. Please see the schedule below for your child's staggered entry date. On these days, students will come for the full day based on where their last name falls in the alphabet. Parents will be allowed to come into the school to help their child bring their stuff to the classroom. You can find out your child’s teacher by checking in your Parent Portal on August 30. All Grade 1,2,3 students will begin attending starting on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS

Please see the attached schedule below for your child's staggered entry dates based on program & last name. There will be a Kindergarten Open House on September 3 for parents to come view classrooms & bring in supplies if desired.

BRIGHT FUTURES PLAY ACADEMY

Miss Allie will be connecting with each students family to share when your child's staggered entry date(s) will be.

We welcome parents/guardians to come into the school on the staggered entry days of September 3rd & 4th. You will be able to drop-off self-purchased school supplies, see your child's classroom & briefly connect with staff from 8:30am to 9:00am.

As of September 5th, parents/guardians are asked to drop off/pick up their children at the designated meeting space each day. Our school doors will remain locked at all times to ensure student safety.

In early October, each family will have a dedicated one-on-one Meet The Teacher appointment to discuss how your child is settling in and their social & emotional development as the school year begins.

On Tuesday, September 3rd from 2:00pm - 3:15pm, we are opening up our classrooms to allow kindergarten families the opportunity to drop in & say hello if they wish! You may also bring in school supplies for drop off as well.

Parent Portals will open on AUGUST 30 - please check your accounts to view your child's classroom teacher.

Your parent portal is an important component of the WCPS school division. This is how you will pay for instructional materials fees, order hot lunch, purchase online fundraising items & more! If your require assistance with your Parent Portal, please contact the office.

On August 22nd, WCPS sent emails to ALL parents/guardians for every student currently enrolled in a WCPS school. All parents/guardians are required to complete the Demographic Update linked in these emails for each student; these NEW forms contain parent/guardian permissions for the 2024-2025 school year for students to access technology, participate in physical education & walking field trips, as well as serve as the annual Registration Form required by Alberta Education. Please ensure these are submitted as soon as possible to ensure your child has access to the above items.

All of our 2024-2025 Calendars are available on our school website under CALENDARS; click HERE to access! Also, you can subscribe/add our digital calendar to your iCal or Google Calendar on the web page as well for school-wide events & dates that are posted.

Our 2024-2025 Fees are as follows:

Kindergarten Students

• $32 Instructional Materials Fee
• $25 Technology Fee

Grades 1/2/3 Students

• $28 Instructional Materials Fee
• $40 Technology Fee

In September, these fees will be payable in your Parent Portal under STUDENT FEES. Please contact the office if you have any questions or need assistance.

Parents & Guardians are asked to use the NORTH parking lot. The south lot is for staff parking only. There are 2 handicapped parking stalls in the north lot adjacent to the sidewalk.

Absolutely NO PARKING at any time is permitted in the Fire Lane - this is a designated fire lane and as such, ticketing may occur.
