Welcome Back from the PTO
On behalf of our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), we want to welcome all of our Bears, whether you're new or returning, to BGS. Our PTO truly is a partnership across the school community to help make BGS a great place to learn. You'll hear from us weekly to keep you posted on upcoming PTO events.
Our PTO provides opportunities to students and teachers alike. For students, we provide assemblies featuring authors and scientists, build on character education, and we subsidize class trips when they are allowed to occur. For teachers, we help enrich the classroom via our mini-grant program; past grants have included flexible seating, math games, science stations, and weekly magazines.
The PTO also spearheads larger investments. In the summer of 2019, we undertook a Teachers' Lounge Renovation. You can also view a virtual tour of the updated room here. Your child(ren) is likely also enjoying the Gaga Ball Pit which was installed over the summer of 2019.
Lastly, the PTO helps create a sense of school community. From activities like the Halloween Hoot to the Color Run, we provide family fun that brings students, parents, and teachers together beyond the classroom. We are working hard to re-invent some of these activities to make them COVID-safe.
We encourage you to join the PTO to help us create lasting memories for our Bears. Membership is purchased annually ($25 for families and teachers, $15 for BGS Aides). Membership grants you free electronic access to our Student Directory, making it easy to schedule playdates. You can purchase membership via PtBoard
We hope you'll join us for our first VIRTUAL PTO meeting of the year on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 7:30 PM via Zoom. We promise, we keep our meetings to only an hour, so you'll get in and out fast! Zoom meeting info will be sent via email a few days prior.

Volunteer to Be a Homeroom Parent
Kids love to see their parents involved at school. Consider volunteering to become a Homeroom Parent. Homeroom parents help with collecting class funds, working with your teacher to organize class parties, and communicating important info with your class,

The PTO Has Moved to PtBoard - Sign Up Today!
We heard your feedback! Our PTO has moved everything you need for the PTO to a simpler, more user friendly tool called PtBoard. This one-stop-shop is available via your web browser. In case you missed last week's announcement about PtBoard, detailed instructions can be found in the button below.
- Go to bgspto.ptboard.com and click on “Sign Up” in the upper right corner
- When asked, use school code XHAUPP
- While you're there, make sure to purchase your PTO membership and donate to our BGS Staff Flood Relief Fund
Help BGS Staff Recover from the Floods
Funds will be distributed directly to both staff members. The PTO will include additional staff members impacted by the remnants of Hurricane Ida as we become aware of them.
