Food Buying Guide Online Courses

USDA's Food Buying Guide (FBG) Online Course Series is now available on ICN's eLearning portal. The courses provide information about the functions of the FBG and allow users to become familiar with the resource and its features.

The FBG is a resource with built-in tools, and each tool is covered in the online course modules.

These tools include the Recipe Analysis Workbook (RAW), Product Formulation Statement (PFS) Workbook, FBG Calculator, and Exhibit A Grains Tool. All three modules are now available on ICN's eLearning Portal.

In this module you will learn about the tools available in the resource. These tools include the Recipe Analysis Workbook (RAW), Product Formulation Statement Workbook (PFS), FBG Calculator, and Exhibit A Grains Tool.

In this module you will learn what the RAW is, what its components are, and how to calculate meal pattern contributions for standardized recipes. You will be guided through the RAW using creditable ingredients from the food groups.

In this module you will learn about Child Nutrition (CN) Labels and PFS. This module will provide background information on the specific requirements for a CN Label and PFS, explain how they are different, and how to use each resource.

Enrolling in a course is simple!

1. Go to TheICN.org/eLearning.
2. Click REGISTER.
3. Enter the required information and create a password.
4. Answer a few simple questions.
5. Sign in and enroll in your course.
