Advanced Courses
We’re excited to announce that East will be opening opportunities for more students to take IB classes next year. We will be transitioning some of our AP courses to their IB versions. For example, if you met the prerequisites for AP Biology, we are inviting you to take the comparable IB Biology. Individual IB classes have similar levels of rigor as AP classes, but often earn more college credit. The change also allows us to provide a more cohesive and balanced experience while creating fewer schedule conflicts.
Students that want to take an IB course do not need to apply to the IB program or to carry a full schedule of IB classes.
If you have any questions about which advanced classes your student is eligible for, please contact Rick Simineo, our IB Coordinator, at Rick.Simineo@laramie1.org.
Course Selection
Students will start to select courses for the 2025-2026 school year on Friday, February 21. A few important reminders:
- Parents can view the courses a student has selected in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
- Just because a student selects a course does not mean that they are guaranteed to have that course on their schedule in the Fall.
- 9th and 10th grade students are required to enroll in 8 classes. 11th and 12th grade students are required to enroll in at least 7 classes.
- Please speak with your student about course selection and encourage them to select courses that align with their goals for life after high school.
- Teachers will recommend core classes, so encourage your student to have thoughtful conversations with their teachers.
- If your student failed a class, make sure they see their counselor to come up with a credit recovery plan.
Nurse's Update
Attention East High School!
Norovirus, otherwise known as “the stomach flu,” is making its way around Laramie County and East High School. Norovirus is spread through touching contaminated surfaces and through close contact with someone who is already sick.
Symptoms of Norovirus Include:
· Stomach cramps
· Watery diarrhea
· Nausea & vomiting

To prevent illness, it is important to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer does not kill norovirus!
