OUR SCHOLARS ARE SOARING TO NEW HEIGHTS!
THERE IS SO MUCH TO LOOK FORWARD TO THIS YEAR AT GVPLA!!
KICKING OFF AN EXTRAORDINARY SCHOOL YR!
Welcome back Falcon Family!
Teachers and staff are continuing to build strong relationships with our scholars daily! We are highly looking forward to spending this year helping our scholars grow, transform, and learn academically, and emotionally here at PLA.
Lastly, If you are the first person in the car rider line pulling in during arrival, please make sure when you drop your scholars off that you pull all the way up to the sign that says "student pick up/drop off" before letting your scholars out the car. This is to ensure the safety of our scholars and keep traffic from getting backed up. Please refrain from letting scholars out of the car at the beginning of the entrance, as this causes the line to get backed up. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
NOTE***
MOST OF OUR COMMUNICATION FOR SCHOOL CLOSINGS, DELAYS, HALF DAYS AND EVENTS WILL BE SENT THROUGH EMAIL. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN EMAIL ON FILE PLEASE CALL THE SCHOOL DURING NORMAL BUSINESS HOURS (M-F 7:30-3:30) AND GET YOUR EMAIL UPDATED ASAP TO ENSURE YOU ARE NOT MISSING OUT ON ANYTHING.

HAPPY BLACK HISTORY MONTH GVPLA!
During the month of February, we recognize Black History Month, a month acknowledging and celebrating African American achievement, triumph, and strength.
As Black History Month comes to a close, we will continue our gratitude and recognition of the Black men and women that have made significant contributions to our society.
This Black History Month and always, we would like to remind scholars and staff to LEAD WITH LOVE like Shirley Chisholm.
The first Black congresswoman, representing New York in the U.S. House of Representatives for 7 terms beginning in 1968. She went on to run for the 1972 Democratic nomination for the presidency—becoming the first major-party African-American to do so.
Throughout her political career, Chisholm fought for education opportunities and social justice.
School Store Fundraiser!
We now have 20% of our school participating in our SchoolStore Fundraiser.
Once we reach 40% participation, GVP will get an entry into a drawing for a Book Vending Machine!
Ask your scholar about the orange lanyard that went home with them last week. Scan the QR code, sign up, send 6 emails, and you will get a code.
Ask Ms. Clark for more information.
Ms. Preme has extra lanyards in the office.

If Your Child is Sick:
When to Consider Staying Home:
If your student currently has or has had a fever greater than 100.4°F or your student has vomited or has had diarrhea in the past 24 hours, they should not come to school.
Notify the School: If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, please call or email the school office by 2:00 p.m. on the day of the absence. Include your child's name, grade level, and teacher's name. Please also copy the teacher(s) on the email. If you need their emails we will be happy to provide that information as well.
Main Email Contacts:
Students Who Become Ill at School: If your child has a fever or begins vomiting at school, they must be picked up for school as soon as possible.
When Can Your Child Return to School?
Your child must be fever-free (below 100.4°F), without vomiting or diarrhea, and generally feeling better for at least 24 hours without the aid of medication before returning to school.
If your child is diagnosed with COVID-19, please follow your doctor's instructions.
Requesting Homework:
If you need to request homework for your child, please send a separate email directly to their teacher(s) and allow 24 hours for the teacher(s) to prepare the materials.
