📐GEO-ME-TRY Showcase 📏
Elizabeth Johns, Bel Air High School Mathematics Teacher & Parent/Community Engagement Liaison, along with fellow Mathematics Teachers Michael Mullen and Jennifer Mayo, planned an excellent parent and family engagement event GEO-ME-TRY. Geometry students highlighted their areas of interest and connected that with the geometry content learned in class. Parents/caregivers, siblings, and grandparents attended the event with the students to celebrate and admire their amazing work – and learn how geo-me-try connects to the world around us! Way to go BAHS Mathematics Department, and PACE Liaison, Ms. Johns!

Parent Access to Canvas now available
Beginning January 25, parent and guardian access to Canvas is open. This grants parents and guardians the ability to access their student’s Canvas account in a read-only observer role.
Canvas is the platform where teachers post resources and coursework, and students access and complete their coursework.
In the observer role, you will be able to review what your student is learning, follow their classroom progress, see if they have any missing work, and see important dates for the class.
Two important reminders:
- Even though some grades may be available in Canvas, Home Access Center (HAC) remains the official grade book for final grades.
- Contacting teachers through HCPS email remains the primary communication for teachers and parents for formal educational conversations regarding the student. Parents, teachers, and students may elect to use the messaging feature in Canvas to communicate informally on general topics such as school events or information shared in classroom newsletters.
A Parent Access Orientation has been created to help you navigate Canvas and show you how to connect with your student’s account. Additionally, a Parent Academy Real Talk video was created to demonstrate the process.
