PRIDE Under Construction - Week #34 🚧
Greetings, STEAM Family!
We have just completed an eventful, yet certainly productive week at SDE, and we would be remiss if we did not pause to CONGRATULATE all of our 3rd & 4th grade students & staff for a job well done during the GA Milestones administration! Our students maintained excellent attendance throughout the week, along with a level of unmatched focus, tenacity, and PRIDE to show that test who's boss!
Additionally, our students were rewarded with daily treats each afternoon by our administrative team. Some of these included 'brain pops' (popsicles), 'smart suckers' (blow pops), & 'success' punch, just to share a few! We are especially grateful, however, to our community partners, the Beta Alpha Xi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., for treating all of our 3rd & 4th graders and staff to frozen water ice cups this past Friday to conclude the testing week! As we anxiously await the results of the GMAS, we understand that every minute still counts. Therefore, we will continue to review essential concepts and skills for each grade level in preparation for our summer session, for any students who may need to participate, as well as preview skills for the upcoming grade levels for those students who need enrichment. Finally, we concluded our week with a special beautification project sponsored by community partners of SDE, the Tau Omicron Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. These ladies worked alongside members of our Student Council to plant a tree on our playground with the anticipation of its growth and providing some additional shade and beauty to our playground for years to come!
This week, we will begin the launch of our "Memorable May" activities as we approach the end of this school year. Parents, please be on the lookout for the official school memo that will be sent home this week outlining all of the field trips and school-wide activities that will warrant your attention so that you can plan accordingly for your child. For example, on this Friday, May 5th, we will host Part 1 of our Annual Spring Fling Celebration with our Faculty v/s Student Dodgeball Game at the Oconee Gym! Details will be included with this week's memo.

WHO ARE WE???...
This Week at SDE:
ATTENDANCE MATTERS - Parents, please make sure your child maintains regular attendance and arrives to school in a timely manner. Students are tardy at 8:15 am. Five (5) tardies and/or early dismissals count as one (1) unexcused absence. Student attendance will be a part of criteria used to determine eligibility for school-wide celebrations. Remember, every minute really counts!
- Weekly grade level newsletters will be sent home each Monday, so please check your child's folder and/or book bag.
- The dress code will be enforced DAILY at SDE! Any "Dress Down" days will be communicated in advance. Repeated dress code violations will result in students becoming ineligible to participate in school-wide and/or classroom PRIDE celebrations and events! Please make sure your child adheres to the required dress code. Remember, the P in PRIDE stands for "Personal Responsibility".
- The PRIDE Afterschool Remediation/Enrichment Program takes place on Mondays - Wednesdays from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Snacks and transportation will be provided. For more information regarding the after school program waiting list, please contact the school at (478) 353-8250.
