A Message from Dr. Malinoski, Superintendent of Schools
Dear Cedar Families,
In the Lebanon School District, one of our top priorities is providing a safe and supportive environment for all students. We understand that recent information regarding U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement information may cause anxiety for some students and families. We want to reassure you of our unwavering commitment to the well-being of every child in our schools.
Key Points to Keep in Mind:
- Privacy Protections: We are committed to protecting student privacy under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Personally identifiable student information is not shared without parental consent or a valid subpoena. Additionally, under Pennsylvania School Code, we do not inquire about or maintain records regarding the immigration status of our students or their families.
- Schools as Safe Spaces: Creating a secure, student-centered environment remains our priority. We continuously monitor our school spaces and stay informed on evolving policies and procedures. As always, parents and guardians are welcome in our schools, following standard entry procedures. To maintain safety, anyone who does not follow these procedures will be denied access per district safety protocols.
- District Support: We have staff available to support students and families with any concerns. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact our Student Services Department. To ensure you receive timely updates and important district communications, please make sure your contact information, including phone numbers and email addresses, is current with the district.
We want every student to feel safe, valued, and supported at school. Being in school daily is essential to their success, and we are here to ensure they have a secure place to learn and grow.
Thank you for your trust and partnership in keeping our schools safe. Please reach out if you have any questions or need support.
Nicole L. Malinoski, Ed.D.

Winter Tips - Keep Warm For Winter
Layer Up
Make sure to wear several layers of clothing, gloves, and a hat, especially when outside for recess or waiting for the bus.
Don't Slip!
Wear proper winter footwear and take small, slow steps on icy surfaces to prevent falls.
Stay Hydrated
You can still get dehydrated in winter, especially when playing outside in layers. Be sure to stay hydrated and don't wait to drink water until you're thirsty!
Don't Forget Sunscreen!
Snow can reflect sunlight and give you sunburn, even in the winter! Wear sunscreen of SPF 15+ on exposed skin and reapply every 2 hours.
Volunteer Opportunities
We are excited to offer you the opportunity to become involved in your child’s school experience through our volunteer program! Whether you’re interested in supporting classroom activities or chaperoning a field trip, the application process is simple and the same for both roles.
To apply as a volunteer or chaperone, please visit our Volunteer Application Portal. We encourage you to complete this process well in advance of signing up to chaperone for a field trip. Completing this application ensures that all necessary clearances are in place, keeping our schools a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
If you have any questions or need assistance with the application process, please don't hesitate to reach out to Jazmine in the District Office at (717) 273-9391, ext. 6500.

National School Counseling Week
National School Counseling Week is celebrated February 3 through February 7. We want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to our school counselors for their invaluable contributions to the well-being and success of students, families, and school communities. Their dedication to fostering academic achievement, career readiness, and social-emotional growth has a profound and lasting impact on countless lives.
We recognize the critical role counselors play in guiding students through challenges, celebrating their achievements, and helping them envision a brighter future. Their empathy, expertise, and tireless efforts create a supportive environment where all students can thrive.
Thank you, school counselors, for your unwavering commitment, compassion, and advocacy. You make a difference every day, and we are truly grateful for all that you do.
LHS Course Updates and Graduation Requirements
Every year, Lebanon High School updates its course selection guide to enhance the offerings and opportunities available to our students. This year’s updates include laying the groundwork for Career and Technical Education (CTE) coursework in Mass Communications, Child Care, Accounting Technologies, and Sales and Marketing. Additionally, our high school continues to forge partnerships with post-secondary institutions, enabling our students to earn college credits during their high school years. Lastly, with our new graduation requirements, beginning with the class of 2027, all students must participate in an extracurricular activity to be eligible for graduation.
It is never too early to start planning for your future, and we are thrilled to continue inspiring minds, enriching lives, and shaping futures.
Thank You To Our School Directors!
In recognition of Board of School Director Month, each of our schools donated books to their school libraries in honor of our board directors. As a district, we extend our deepest gratitude to our directors for their dedication and service. Their commitment to our students, staff, and community makes a lasting impact, and we appreciate all they do to support education and shape the future of our schools.
Hour of Code
The Hour of Code is a global initiative aimed at introducing people of all ages to computer science and programming through fun, engaging, and accessible one-hour experiences. Held during Computer Science Education Week, students participated in the Hour of Code challenge, where they worked to demystify coding and demonstrate that anyone can learn the basics of programming.
Lebanon students engage in simple, hands-on coding activities, often using interactive tutorials featuring popular themes like games, animations, or storytelling. These resources are designed to be beginner-friendly, requiring no prior experience, and are available in multiple languages. This year, 49-classrooms across every Lebanon elementary school sharpened their creativity and problem-solving skills to achieve a combined total of 950 hours of coding!
We encourage you to explore coding with your child by taking advantage of these resources:
