Florence One Schools is fully aware of the COVID-19 health scare that has been widely publicized in the media. In our efforts to ensure the safety of our students, faculty and staff the district has eLearning days designated for preparation. Currently all field trips have been suspended until the district’s April board meeting. Information detailing sporting events will be decided by the State Athletic Association . Further instructions will follow when available.

Our delivery date for the chocolate is scheduled for Tuesday, March 17. You will be able to pick up all chocolate on Wednesday and Thursday of this week from 8 to 5. You will be expected to sign out all your chocolate on the day of the pick-up.

This week we have kicked off our Kids Heart Challenge. (Formerly known as Jump Rope for Heart) Our focus is to help our friends and family with heart and stroke disease and to instill heart healthy habits in our students. Heart Disease is 80% preventable! We are having a contest to see which classes will have the most kids registered and taking one of the challenges of being kind and moving more! Please register your child at heart.org/KHC and look for our school or Download the free Kids Heart Challenge App! Please invite your family and friends in our fight against heart disease! If 50% of our children take the challenge, our school will receive $500 via US games for our PE program, our winning teacher at each grade level will receive a $25 gift card for school supplies and your students will receive a free powerband just for taking the challenge in addition to prizes for their donations. Watch for your envelope to come home! Thank you for your support! Together we can save and change lives. Next week I will let you know which class is in the lead!!!

In honor of Women's History Month, we will be hosting Wonderful Women Read this Friday that replicates our Real Men Read Program. We asked that all mothers, sisters, grandmothers, and aunts along with community members to RSVP with our Reading Coach cherisse.thayer@fsd1.org by Wednesday, March 18th. A light breakfast will be ready to serve at 7:30. We look forward to you sharing a book with our scholars.

• Please continue to sign your child's agenda each day.

• Students must be seated by 7:45 a.m. each morning. Any students arriving at or after 7:45 may be marked tardy. Please do not drop your students off without signing them in.
  
• Please continue to closely monitor Chromebooks at home and charge them each night prior to school. Remind students that the district continues to monitor your child's Chromebook even at home.
  
• We ask that you do not sign students out after 1:30 p.m. Any change of transportation needs to be written in your child's agenda or a phone call must be made to the school before 1:30. We will not take any students verbal change of transportation. It must come from the parent/guardian.
  

• Please keep the car rider name(s) visible in the front window until your child is loaded.
  
• When traveling in the school’s parking lot please be aware of your speed; often times, our students are less than attentive at arrival and dismissal. This seems especially true at dismissal time in the car line.

• Please stay off your cell phones while driving on campus.

• When dropping off at the school, please pull as far forward as possible. Also, please have students exit from the right-hand side of the car whenever possible.
• Please continue to turn right when leaving the car line to help with traffic flow.

All car riders should be picked up no later than 2:30. All parents that arrive late will be required to sign their child out from the front office

We will continue utilizing our Instagram and Facebook Page this year to showcase all our positive school wide activities. The intent of this forum is to maintain a positive school climate and promote the great things happening at Savannah Grove Elementary. Please do not use our social media page to share concerns or complaints.
