Autism Acceptance Month
April is Autism Acceptance Month, formerly known as Autism Awareness Month. Autism Acceptance Month is meant to highlight the issues affecting people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families, educate the public on support services, and celebrate and destigmatize the perspectives of those living with ASD.¹
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 1 in 36 children in the United States had been identified as having ASD as of April 2023.² Given the prevalence of ASD, encouraging education, providing resources, and working to remove the stigma of autism becomes all the more important.
As it has been for the last several years, the theme for Autism Acceptance Month 2024 is “Celebrate Differences.” This theme was created to promote acceptance and provide connections to necessary support and resources.
APRIL 8 PTO MEETING BRONCO ROUND-UP:
· Senior Decision Day will be May 15th!
· End-of-year student action items for each grade, from the Counseling Department:

* FOR MORE INFO FROM THE MEETING: go to the BHS PTO page for the meeting minutes and/or follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
· NEXT PTO MEETING IS MONDAY, MAY 13, 9:15am ~ LOCATION CHANGE!
The PTO meeting will be held in the District 220 Admin Offices, across the street from the high school.
BUSY FINAL WEEKS OF SCHOOL AHEAD!
There will be lots of opportunities to volunteer and donate funds over the next few weeks, starting off with:
SNACKS FOR STUDENTS TAKING AP EXAMS
Students taking AP Exams are not allowed access to their backpacks, and if they are taking multiple tests or have an accommodation, that can mean several hours without anything to eat or drink. For the past several years, the PTO has covered that gap by handing out snacks and water. If you’d like to help out, VOLUNTEER HERE
Can’t volunteer during the day but would like to pitch in so kiddos aren’t hungry while taking AP Exams? Funds DONATED HERE are used only for AP Exam snacks.

See Something, Say Something
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority and we commit to offering a safe
and secure educational environment. Barrington 220 is now partnering with an Illinois school safety helpline aimed at providing students a place to report information that might prevent bullying, suicide, and campus violence. Safe2Help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It allows students to confidentially share school safety issues via a mobile app, text, email, or phone call. You will notice that the "See Something, Say Something" button on our district and school website now links directly to the Safe2Help contact page. We are asking that all students, parents, staff, and community members now use this platform to report safety concerns. In the case of an emergency, call 911.BARRINGTON HIGH SCHOOL
