Webber Elementary Newsletter

Conference Week was a Success!
Greetings Webber Elementary Students and Parents,
Reminder that Friday, November 8 is a half day for students, with school dismissal at 12:05 p.m.
I want to thank all of the parents that took the opportunity to engage with our teachers during Parent-Teacher Conferences this week. Truly, parent participation represents your investment in your child's education and overall development. It's a shared investment and we are very proud to be partners on their learning journey.
A few updates to share: Winners from the PTO Pumpkin Carving Contest include Kennedy Sloane (from the 4th/5th grade category), Evelyn Rose (2nd/3rd grade), and Grayson Rickloff (DK/K/1st grade). Congratulations! Prizes from our sponsor, Menchie's Frozen Yogurt, will be getting sent home soon. There was a great turnout - thank you to all who created and submitted a jack-o-lantern design. Another shout out is in order to all of our volunteers - parents, staff, and LO students - who participated in the campus cleanup event last weekend. Truckloads of leaves and debris were raked and removed, restoring some order to the Webber playground. Special thanks to Mrs. Burks and Mrs. Mucci for leading the charge.
Picture Retake Day will be on Thursday, November 14. If you are not satisfied with your child's original school picture, or if your student was never photographed, please see details in the respective section of this newsletter.
For those looking for Webber Elementary gear, our Webber Spirit Wear Store is now open. The holiday sale will continue through November 18. Delivery is expected by 12/3, in plenty of time for the holiday gift-giving season. Next Tuesday, November 12, Sheldon's Street Pizza is hosting a dine-to-donate, with the Webber PTO receiving 15% of proceeds. If you've never had Sheldon's before, check it out. They make a great pie.
November 11 is Veteran's Day, and our students will be provided with instructions encouraging them to recognize any of their grandparents, parents, aunt, uncles, family friends, or neighbors who have served our country. Our Webber Staff salute them as well.
Reminder: LOCS District policy states that elementary aged students are not allowed to have cell phones or smart watches on during the school day. If they have them in school, they need to be turned off and in their lockers.
The Lions have the late, prime time slot on Sunday night. So, although they will not be awake to see the finish, you can help guide them to wear Lions gear on victory Monday 😊.
Have a wonderful weekend. GO Dragons!

Staff Recognition - Distinguished Dragon
Throughout the school year, if you would like to recognize a staff member from Webber, we encourage you to submit a Distinguished Dragon nomination. The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or a colleague by completing the form at LakeOrionSchools.org/DistinguishedDragon. We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary. Please make sure to select the appropriate school/department form so the message is routed in the proper direction.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
