Tomorrow, TUESDAY JUNE 4th, is a TESTING DAY. The only students who report to MECA tomorrow are students sitting for the Algebra I Regents exam. Tuesday June 4th is a NON-INSTRUCTIONAL DAY.
Congratulations to our ReACT Finalists!
We are so proud of our students who made it through the Elimination Round of MECA's 2023-2024 ReACT Competition! ReACT is an annual experiential CTE learning experience all MECA 9th and 10th graders participate in. For many students, this is their first formal introduction to the world of Advertising. All participants work with industry mentors to solve a problem shared by a real-world client. A one page version of this year's brief is shared below.

Fresh Air Fund Spots Available
THE TIME IS NOW TO APPLY FOR FRESH AIR FUND PROGRAMS! THE APPLICATION IS AVAILABLE ONLINE FOR YOU TO APPLY IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY.
If you have already completed your application, great! If not, we encourage you to start and complete it as soon as possible.
The Fresh Air Fund will be providing the following programs to New York City families this summer:
- Friendly Towns: For youth ages 8-14.
- New applicants ages 8-14.
- Returning applicants can reapply through age 18.
- (Youth ages 15-18 can only participate when visiting the same host family
- Sleepaway Camp: For youth ages 8-15.
- Teen Leadership Program: Includes all campers, age 15, at Camp ABC, Junior and Tommy.
- Campers participate in workshops around social-emotional learning, leadership, personal growth and community service
Important information:
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is not required for children, volunteer host families and volunteers participating in 2024 Fresh Air Fund summer programs.
- The Fresh Air Fund strongly encourages up to date COVID-19 vaccinations.
- All staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to work at The Fresh Air Fund.
- All children must live in and go to school in NYC and must meet our income eligibility guidelines.
- Limited spots are available.
- For age-specific programs, participants must be the age listed by Monday July 1, 2024
- Children can attend both Camp and Friendly Towns.
- We no longer provide or use paper applications. All applications will need to be completed online.
- Please let us know if you need assistance completing the online application.

MECA's Priorities
Priority #1 All students will learn to read well By June 2024 pass rates for ELL students on the NYS ELA Regents exam will increase 10 points from 80% to 90%
Priority #2 All students are physically & emotionally safe By June 2024 Hispanic female students will indicate they are invited to participate in collaborative conflict resolution by 15 points from 60% to 75% as measured by favorable responses on the NYC School Survey
Priority #3 All students have a high quality academic experience By June 2024 students with disabilities' pass rate on the Alg I Regents exam will increase from 58% to 65%
Priority #4 All students graduate college & career ready By June 2024 the number of students who are eligible for a CTE endorsed diploma will increase by 17, from to 8 to 25 students as measured by pass rates on the Adobe Photoshop Certification exam
Priority #5 All schools are inclusive & responsive to parents By June 2024 favorable responses regarding teacher initiated contact concerning student performance will increase by 16 points, from 69% to 85% as measured by NYC School Survey responses
