SENIOR HUMANITIES ART PROJECT
Pao Montes created this amazing, crocheted blanket for her senior humanities project. It is Virgin Mary Surrounded by Angels stained-glass window, located in the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. She spent 200+ hours on this project. It is 275 stitches across and 242 rows tall. Pao had to do many color switches for the different blocks of color and went back to the store four times to get more yarn!
PAY IT FORWARD PROJECT

SUMMER MEAL PROGRAM
Lunches will be available for all children and families in the Marengo area during the summer months beginning June 3rd at Zion Lutheran School. Click here for more information.
AG DAY AT MCHS!
The Marengo FFA hosted its annual Ag Day event on May 7th. FFA members led and educated over 600 local elementary students about all things in agriculture. It was a great day of learning and fun for everyone!
READING CLUB END-OF-YEAR PARTY
The Reading Club had our end-of-year party on Friday, May 10th, in the Media Center. We enjoyed pizza & other snacks, and members brought in games to play during the party. We had the party on the last Friday before Seniors’ last day of school. The students got free books to take with them to read over the summer.
We also played a special Mythology Jeopardy game, and the ten students that were present knew a lot of the answers (in the form of a question, of course) and everyone had a great time.

Class of 2025
Students are encouraged to visit college campuses over the summer to make informed decisions about post-secondary plans. Most colleges begin to accept applications after August 1st. Marengo Community High School uses Parchment to send all transcripts electronically. Take time to create a Parchment account over the summer so that you are ready to send out transcripts when school begins! Follow the link to the Parchment site and click "Create an Account" in the upper right corner,
· Next click on Learners or Parents,
· Then create your account.
· If you graduate in December 2024, indicate May 2025 when creating an account.
Class of 2026
The PSAT/NMSQT will be offered in the fall. This exam can help college bound students prepare for the SAT and may be used to qualify him/her for National Merit Scholar recognition. The scores are also used by a variety of organizations to award scholarships. Once scores are processed by CollegeBoard, students are able to connect the test scores to Khan Academy for free personalized test prep for the SAT. If you have questions, please reach out to your student's counselor. College Board information is here.
FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE
Meningococcal Vaccine Required
The Meningococcal vaccine is required for students entering 12th grade. The Illinois Department of Public Health is requiring that all student entering 12th grade show proof of two doses of meningococcal vaccine unless the first dose was administered after 16 years of age. In this case, only one dose is required.
Asthma Action Plan
A new policy was enacted in 2017 that states we must request an asthma action plan from parents of students who have asthma. This form must be completed by a physician and returned to the school nurse.
