Another fantastic week in Raider Nation! We had an amazing Chorus concert on Wednesday and our Dance Showcase is tonight at 5:30 PM, showcasing the incredible talents of our students. Our eighth-grade boys and girls basketball teams also brought home victories this week, defeating CHMS.

Looking ahead, we’re excited for another busy week! Join us for Literacy Night on December 10th – it’s sure to be a great event for all. Additionally, we have some other happenings next week:

• Winter MAP Testing on Tuesday (ELA) and Thursday (Math) – Please make sure your child is present for these important assessments.
• Girls Basketball at home on Monday vs. SMS
• Orchestra Concert at NWHS on Tuesday
• Band Concert and Boys Basketball at home vs. York on Thursday

Leader in Me Habit #6: Synergy

Synergy is celebrating differences, working together, being open minded, and finding new and better ways.

This means that I know everyone is good at something. I know that everyone needs to get better at something, and I know that we can all learn something from each other. Working in groups helps create better ideas than what one person can do alone. Together is better!

8th grade students worked on their Career Portfolios this week. They will present them at their Individual Graduation Plan meetings in February.

6th grade Social Studies students playing a game about the Black Death! The Black Death, also known as the bubonic plague, was a devastating epidemic that had a significant impact on European society and is considered the earliest recorded pandemic.

The Book Fair will be closed Monday and Tuesday during school but families can shop Tuesday during our Literacy Night Event. All sales Tuesday must be check, debit or credit card, or mobile pay. No cash sales will be accepted.

Student have one last chance to shop on Wednesday, December 11 from 8:30-10:30am.

Rawlinson Road Middle School is hosting a Family Literacy Night on December 10 from 5-7pm. We invite you to visit this event with your family to see your students work, get some middle school knowledge and enjoy treats. There will be specialty baskets raffled off, so bring some cash to buy tickets. There will be short performances by chorus and drama students. The Book Fair will be open, and Beta Club is hosting a canned food drive. We have a petting zoo and food vendor lined up as well. Students get a BINGO card and can earn a dress down pass if they visit five of the stations.

*If you or your student would like to donate items to the raffle basket for their team, please reach out to your child's homebase teacher to get suggestions.

Dental Access Carolina mobile van will be at Rawlinson Road Middle School on December 13, 2024 to complete routine hygiene for students who completed and returned consent forms. Please call the school nurse if you have any questions.

• School Start Time: 8:15 a.m. Supervision begins at 7:45 a.m.
• Drop-Off Location: Car riders should be dropped off at the back of the school.
• Student Supervision: Staff will assist students from buses and cars to their grade-level hallways.
• Afternoon Dismissal: Please let your child know whether they will be a car rider or bus rider in the afternoon so we can direct them accordingly. Do not park in the Northwestern parking lot (near the baseball field) to wait for RRMS students.
• Cell Phones: No cell phones allowed during the school day. Students are not allowed to record or take pictures on school grounds, including the bus.
