TIPS Journal Oct 1, 2024 π π
from school to home
Greetings from Tokyo International Progressive School
A huge thank-you to Ms. Takeuchi, Ms. Matsumura, Mr. Cook and Ms. Zyvatkauskas for planning and running the See Japan Break trip for us last week. It was a fun and safe two days of leaving our routine and getting to know the beautiful landscape of Japan better.
We have an increasing number of students who have severe allergies to nuts. For safety, TIPS is working towards eliminating nuts from our environment. By semester 2, which begins January 23, TIPS will have transitioned into a nut-free school.
As always, any questions, please ask.
All the best,
Lyn Sato

π₯ PARENT INITIATIVE for MUSIC π
πΉ If you are musically inclined, Mr. Carlos Lee, dad of a TIPS student, is creating a music group for parents and students you'll want to know about. According to Carlos, music is a fantastic way to get to know your child or teenager better as well as knowing yourself better. Please contact Carlos at fueye81@gmail.com to collaborate on a musical project. You may find yourself on stage at our Variety Show in April! πΌI

Each year, we kindly ask each student/family to donate 10,000 yen to the PSA. These funds help support various activities and events organized by the TIPS PSA. Please submit the donation in an envelope labelled with your child's name and have them give it to either Ms. Nakamura or Ms. Matsumura in the office.

Thanks everyone for the party September 20. We enjoyed the visit!

This month we welcome the fall and say goodbye to the grand scorching malicious force of the summer sun. We finally have actually livable temperatures, and also have the spooky aspect of the harvest season to look forward to. The student council has a couple of events planned to celebrate, including a costume contest, decorating contest, and Halloween movies that are from "funβ to βfreakyβ, whatever that means. We will also have treats and snacks, like freshly made popcorn, so be prepared with money. We promise we have normal prices. Movies are planned to be viewed with real verifiably human eyes on October 31st.
Thank You, Peak Pursuits!
TIPS is partnering with Peak Pursuits for a series of outdoor adventures this year. The smiles - and mist - in the pictures below are from a day of rafting for grades 4 - 8 on September 21. The next activity is rafting for grades 9 - 12, October 5. More information will be coming along for future outdoor fun. The events are fantastic opportunities to get out of our urban setting and see some of Japan's beautiful landscapes.
