Dear Families,
Sorry for the delay in getting the newsletter to you. Various obstacles popped up at the end of the week.
We had a wonderful visit with the guests from the Republic of Georgia. They had so many questions about our practice and the pre-service training for new teachers. One guest wrote after the visit: “I just have to say, the Weybridge School is a magical place!” I love when visitors pick up on this.
The ephemeral, deep snow offered an excellent medium for building AND various games involving flopping down. There was a quick pivot back to spring, mud and shedding jackets as the snow melted away.
4th/5th graders are continuing their research that they will share later in the month at the Exhibition presentations and gallery walk. (See calendar above.) This week they began interviewing experts in the field they are researching. I had the privilege of sitting in on a few of these and was so impressed with the students’ knowledge and poise. Kat Yepez has done an excellent job in facilitating this complex PYP project. See ACSD Exhibition Brochure here.
Reminder: VTCAP state assessments grades 3-5 - I have posted the schedule below. The tests are not timed and students can work on them over several days, taking breaks as needed. The tests are also computer adaptive, adjusting to the individual student so they are working on tasks that match their mastery level. As students engage with the assessment, we consistently work to create a relaxed environment for them. Please see VTCAP family letter linked here.
Please make every effort to have your child in school for the scheduled assessment times. While they can make up the assessments, it means they are out of synch with their classmates and missing instruction. :

Tag Sale - At the recent FOWE meeting there was a discussion as to whether we could pull off the Tag Sale this year. FOWE has sponsored and managed the sale in the past. It is a tremendous amount of work, especially breaking it down and dispersing what is left after the actual sale. In order for FOWE to pull it off without undue stress, they need roughly 10 volunteers. We’re looking at May 18 as a possible date (set up the afternoon of 5/17, sale May 18, breakdown late afternoon of May 18 and day of May 19). If you are interested in helping to make it happen, please email Erin Davis erinjd@gmail.com.
Lunch volunteers - Next week we need coverage for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. Please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or sign up directly here if you can help with lunch prep and service, 11:00-12:00 between now and the end of the school year. Even one day helps. Thanks.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Best, Christina
