8th Grade Boys Basketball
The Boerne Greyhounds 8th grade boys basketball teams put on a spirited performance at home against the Hal Patterson Antlers. While the scoreboard might not have reflected the desired outcome, the Greyhounds showed resilience, hustle, and heart throughout both games.
B-Team: A Night of Growth and Spirit
The B-Team kicked off the evening with a tough battle against the visiting Antlers, falling 69-30. Though the score may not have been in their favor, there were plenty of positives to take away. Leeland Grandstaff led the Greyhounds with 14 points, consistently finding his rhythm and showing strong offensive capability. Logan Kleaner, who also contributed 9 points, stole the show in a truly special moment for the team. As the long-time team manager, Kleaner’s effort to get into the game and contribute was met with loud applause and cheers from the crowd. His victory dances after plays were a highlight of the night, showing just how much passion and joy the young Greyhounds bring to the court.
Defensively, Braxtyn Kennel stood out, hustling non-stop and providing energy that lifted the team throughout the game. His relentless pursuit of the ball and aggressive defense demonstrated the kind of work ethic that inspires teammates and fans alike.
A-Team: A Display of Heart and Determination
The A-Team faced a tough challenge against the Antlers, with the game ending 53-29 in favor of the visitors. Despite the loss, there were moments of brilliance, especially from Tucker Thompson, who led the team with 10 points. Thompson’s aggressive play in the paint kept the Antlers on their toes, and he displayed impressive determination as he battled under the basket.
While the scoreboard did not show the result they hoped for, the Greyhounds played with grit and determination. Each player contributed to the defensive effort, showing hustle and a commitment to improving as a team. The focus and energy on the court made it clear that these players are growing and developing with every game.
Looking Ahead
Although both the B-Team and A-Team faced setbacks, the Greyhounds continue to show remarkable growth and resilience. With hard work, team spirit, and determination, the young athletes from Boerne Middle School North are building a solid foundation for future success.
Next up for the Greyhounds is a trip to Medina Valley on Wednesday, January 22, to wrap up their 2024-2025 basketball season.
