Miller Elementary Weekly Update
March 1, 2024
Mrs. Goodman's Message
Hello Miller Families!
I hope everyone had a wonderful week! As a reminder, there will be NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, MARCH 4th in order for staff members to continue our professional learning! We are looking forward to seeing your children on Tuesday!
This upcoming week, many of our preschool families will be enrolling their child in KINDERGARTEN! This is a friendly reminder to families that are enrolling, that you need to update Final Forms prior to your registration time slot and preferably as soon as possible. I have included the link to Final Forms below. Additionally, you must have a time slot for registration. These 2 days can be very busy enrolling many eager families and this schedule helps to keep the process smooth and efficient for everyone. If you have any questions about registration, please call the office at 330-562-6199. We are VERY EXCITED to enroll the CLASS OF 2037!
Finally, I have a few important reminders. We sent out a Final Forms update for our current kindergarten families to access their child's progress report in Gather (our online reporting system). Please see the directions below if you haven't viewed their report. Also, we have Donut Days ahead! There is an important RSVP to fill out so that we can order enough donuts.
Have a great long weekend and we will see everyone on Tuesday!

We will be sending home more specific communication about this event in the weeks ahead so please be on the lookout. If you have a child in both preschool and kindergarten or in different classes, you may select one of the days to attend or come on each of the scheduled days so your child can be with their classmates.

Kick Off to Kindergarten for 2024-2025
Kindergarten Registration for the 2024-2025 school year will take place on Wednesday, March 6th and Thursday, March 7th! Please make sure you have selected a time slot to attend registration if your child is transitioning from preschool to kindergarten.
All Miller Preschool Students registering for Kindergarten must update final forms prior to attending registration. Please log into your final forms account and click on the blue rectangle at the top that says "click to switch to the 24/25 registration".
At registration you will learn about a kindergarten screening time. Your child will not need a screening time because they will participate in kindergarten screening during their regular preschool day here at Miller. A report and letter with their results will be sent home upon completion. This is just a quick opportunity for kindergarten teachers to meet your child and see their kindergarten readiness skills!
Please contact your child's teacher or the main office at 330-562-6199 if you have any additional questions.

School Counselor Updates: Mrs. Ambrosia
Hello Families! Kindergarten students should be proud to share that they have mastered the ZONES of Regulation. They’re mini-experts at explaining how they feel. We’ve also been working with learning some coping skills incorporating breathing, finger tapping and tracing. Another enjoyable activity has been listening to A Little SPOT Series – Diane Alber. These are books that help the students understand feelings while incorporating coping strategies.
This week, we will be celebrating kindness! Please enjoy these Kindness at Home activities from The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation.
As always, please feel free to reach out at any time if your student would benefit from extra support during their school day. It’s been great to watch them grow as Greenmen!

Miller Parent Pick-Up and Attendance Reporting
This is a reminder that we are using our Miller Attendance and Parent Pick-up Form as an easy communication tool to report your child will be absent or you need to pick them up from school early. You still need to use the Alternative Bus Stop Form linked in this newsletter if you need your child's bus to change. You do not need to report if they will not be riding the bus in the morning due to an absence or illness on this form.
If you want to change your child from a bus rider to a parent pick-up, please scan the QR code below or click the button to fill out our Google form. This can be done from any device and your reply will be sent immediately to our secretary, Mrs. Wolf.
If you need an alternative bus stop or a change in busing, we also have attached the transportation forms to change your child's busing information. These forms need to be completed and sent to our transportation department at transportationinfo@aurora-schools.org
As a reminder, you can send in cash or check made out to the Aurora City Schools and we will add any amount to your child's lunch account. Please send in money in a clearly labeled envelope so we know to add this amount to your child's account!
