Los Pen NEUs

Dear Los Pen Families,

Our Friday Flag ceremony this morning was a wonderful way to end our first week of December here at Los Pen. We honored our November valedictorians, our Character Counts Awards winners, our outstanding runners from Running Club, and our classrooms that had the highest attendance and most improved attendance for last month (way to go University of Alabama 5th graders and our TK students from PLNU!).

The next two weeks are packed with many opportunities to spread joy and celebrate our NEU community. From performances to toy and food drives, we are so fortunate to be part of the Los Pen family.

LPES is collecting new, unwrapped toys to benefit our Los Pen families in need. Suggested wish list items include Pokeman card packs, Squishmallows (~12" size), Legos, or any elementary-aged appropriate toys in the $20 - $25 range. If you would like to donate a toy, please drop off your donation to the LPES Office by Friday, December 13th. Thank you for helping to spread cheer this holiday season!

The student council is excited to continue our tradition of the Annual Holiday Food Drive! Each year we partner with 4CommunityCare to collect food donations for families in need in the local community.

Helpful items include uncooked pasta, canned fruit or vegetables, soup, crackers, and peanut butter. All donations must be non-perishable. We are unable to accept expired items, so please check expiration dates before donating.

Items can not be accepted after Wednesday, December 11. Please do not drop off donations to the front office. Deliver all donations to classroom teachers by Wednesday, December 11. Food will be distributed through the 4CommunityCare organization.

Individual and class prizes were awarded for our Running Club students at this morning's Friday Flag ceremony, after wrapping up our first official month of the Running Club since our kick off at the end of October. We are very proud of the students who ran, walked, and gave it their all for that one extra lap!

Join the Los Pen PTA on December 13th from 5-7:30, for the annual holiday shop, silent auction and raffle. The holiday shop will be a cashless opportunity for our students (and siblings) to purchase gifts for their loved ones for $2/gift for up to 5 gifts. Take a night off from cooking and join fellow Los Pen friends and families for dine out nights to support Los Peñasquitos Elementary. Our wonderful restaurant community partners donate back a percentage of all sales to the PTA, which funds special programs and events throughout the year.
