Good afternoon 8th grade families! There is less than 4 weeks left of the quarter. This is a friendly reminder to check (or have your student) PowerSchool and see if anything can be done to address inadequate grades. The time to worry about grades is now, not the day before Spring Break! Thanks for reading the newsletter.
Transition to High School
HS Transition Informational Night
Please save the date for a Transition to High School Informational Night on March 4th - 6:30-7:30. Current 8th Grade Students and families are going to be invited to this meeting.
If you have a topic you think should be included, please fill out this survey by Tuesday! The link for the survey is here!

Help Needed - Career Day
We are hosting our annual Career Day on Friday April 25th, 2025. The 8th grade will be participating in a simulation regarding personal finance.
BUT WE NEED PRESENTERS FROM VARIOUS CAREER FIELDS FOR THE 6TH AND 7TH GRADES! As a presenter in the Middle School you will be placed into a classroom, where students will rotate from room to room. When students are visiting you in the classroom you will be given the time to share all the cool and exciting things people should know about your career!

Choir Festival - Public Welcome
On February 25th, at 7 pm the High School Concert choir will perform a joint concert at the Presbyterian Church in Traverse City along with the Alma College choirs, Glen Lake choir, and St. Francis choirs. This is part of the Alma College Choirs' winter tour. This concert is also open to the public.

Greetings, All. The students are wrapping up their independent investigation of one of four texts to conclude the reading component of our unit. Their next step will be engaging in the writing process to wrap up our work related to invention. Please let me know if you have any questions. I am always available to communicate. - Mr. Gaddy.
Science - Ms. Smith
US History - Mr. Buniewicz
Today students are taking a quiz on the Reform Movements of the 1800s. We are moving on to a unit regarding the institution of slavery in the United States. There will be no quiz/test next week.
Math - Mrs. Wilkins
Algebra: Methods for Solving Systems: Equal Values, Graphing, Substitution, and Elimination, Quiz Tuesday Pre-Algebra: Factoring and Solving Quadratics, Test Friday
Sustainable Science - Ms. Smith
Students did great with week 2 of our healthy cooking unit and, will continued to work on their sewing projects. Next week we will be making a few homemade recipes including biscuits and tacos. :)
Board Game Design - Mr. Sias
We are playtesting and providing feedback to designers on their prototypes. Our next project will be prepping a published one-shot adventure to give students an opportunity to be gamemasters.
