MAP Growth Testing
Next week, Biology, Algebra 1, and English 1 and 2 will be administering the MAP test. This test will be given at the beginning of the year, middle of the year, and end of the year for all k-12 students in CISD. The data gathered will influence curriculum by identifying student needs. This will aide teachers in providing targeted instruction or intervention to those specific students prior to the STAAR test.
ELA will test on Tuesday, September 10
Biology will test on Wednesday, September 11
Algebra 1 will test on Thursday, September 12
Testing for any absent students will be as needed with all testing being concluded on Friday during activity period.
Flexible Seating
The furniture was originally purchased through the CISD Education Foundation Innovative Grant which was submitted by Mrs. Thurik and Mr. Rogers. They are very happy to provide a temporary home for all the pieces until they can be returned back to the library space.
Activity Day!
Students really enjoy the time they get on Fridays between 2nd and 3rd periods to relax and unwind after working all week. Students can play board games or cards, pool, foose ball, corn hole, or even work on their classes.
Soon they will also have the option to participate in clubs and meetings based on their interests. These will be sponsored by teachers and each week will be something different. This allows students to have multiple interests they can explore. Once the weather cools down, they will also be able to go outside and enjoy outdoor activities as well.
Spirit Night - Friday, September 13
From Anthony Mireles, Family & Community Partnership Coordinator, Department of Communications for the Channelview Independent School District:
We appreciate your continued support as we assist you in securing a bright future for your children. Channelview ISD wants to celebrate with your family by inviting you to the 2024 Spirit Night Game on Friday, September 13, 2024 as the Channelview Falcons take on Clear Creek High School for the first homestand of the regular season. All CISD students can attend the game FOR FREE!
If you have not yet attended a Channelview home football game, it is quite an energetic affair! From the moment you walk into Ray Maddry Memorial Stadium, that energy – that sense of hometown pride – can be felt everywhere. Whether that is on the gridiron, from the band playing in the stands, or from the Falcon faithful, it is intoxicating, addicting, and fills you up with Channelview spirit.
It is that spirit and hometown pride that will lead the youngest and brightest minds in Channelview to do their absolute best. Their efforts are not for themselves, but for the future stand tune players, cheerleaders, and football stars watching – waiting for their turn underneath the Friday night lights. For that reason, we highly encourage you to bring your children to this game. Channelview’s Finest depends on all of us playing our roles well today so that we may secure the future for our children tomorrow. We look forward to seeing what that future will bring on September 13th. GO FALCONS!
