Our District Promise
Every student in the Stanwood-Camano School District is empowered to learn in an inclusive setting and is prepared for the future of their choice.
Principal Message
We’ve had a fantastic first week of school! Students have been settling into their routines, making new friends, and helping to create a positive school environment where everyone feels they belong. We also rolled out our new school-wide behavior expectations and students have been introduced to them in various ways throughout the week. It’s exciting to see everyone contributing to the Spartan community!
Please note we will be holding our first safety drill on Thursday, September 12th and Picture Day is coming up on Friday, September 13th.
Thank you for your continued support. Here's to a great year ahead!
Best,

Reminder: New websites coming Monday!
We are excited that Monday morning, we will launch brand-new and improved school and district websites! This upgrade is part of our ongoing commitment to enhance communication, streamline access to important information, and provide a better user experience for all.
What to expect:
New look and feel: Our updated websites will feature a simple design, improved navigation, and enhanced functionality. We built the site using staff and family feedback, in part from the hundreds of responses from our annual Community Survey in March.
Learning curve: As with any new system, there may be a short adjustment period. We encourage you to explore the new site and familiarize yourself with its features.
Family newsletters: You might notice that our weekly family newsletters have a slightly different appearance during this transition while we implement our new communication systems.
We appreciate your patience:
Bug fixes: As we transition to the new website, we anticipate there may be a few bugs to iron out — such as a broken link here and there. Our team will work quickly to address any issues that may arise.
Still learning: Please bear with us as our staff becomes familiar with how best to fill out our new website with all the upcoming news and events.
Feedback: Your feedback is invaluable to us! If you encounter any problems or have suggestions for improvements, please let us know by emailing scsdinfo@stanwood.wednet.edu or — starting Monday after the new site goes live — by completing a form on our Communications Department webpage.
What’s next?
Please note that there may be a disruption in access to our district and school sites Monday morning as the new sites go live.
Coming in the next few weeks will be new weekly newsletters that align more closely with the information and resources on our new websites.
Later this school year, you’ll be able to download the Stanwood-Camano School District app, which will allow users to get push notifications or a wide variety of alerts
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we make this exciting transition to bundle our communication services, allowing the district to consolidate needed features and save money.
We are confident that the new website will serve as a valuable resource and enhance our communication with you.

Introducing Our New School-Wide Behavior Expectations
We are excited to share that our students will be learning about our new school-wide behavior expectations during the first week of school. These expectations were developed in partnership with both our staff and students to promote a positive and supportive learning environment for everyone.
Through engaging activities and discussions, students will explore what it means to be Prepared, Respectful, Involved, Disciplined, and Empowered—the core values of Spartan Pride. We believe these expectations will help guide our students toward success both in and out of the classroom.
Spartan Support Center
In our ongoing commitment to fostering a positive learning environment, we're excited to introduce the Spartan Support Center at Stanwood Middle School. This new space is specifically designed for students who have been excluded from class, are serving detention, or are in need of in-school suspension. The Spartan Support Center provides a structured environment where students can reflect on their behavior, complete academic work, and take accountability for their actions. Through clear expectations and support, we aim to guide students towards positive behavioral growth, ensuring they return to class ready to succeed. We're here to partner with you in supporting our students' journey to becoming responsible and empowered members of our school community.
Cell Phones
We understand that many parents provide their children with cell phones for safety. They can, however, become a disruption at school.
Cell phones are viewed by the school as electronic devices and should not be used during the school day without permission from a staff member. As with other electronic devices, if you have a cell phone at school, it should be turned off or switched to silent mode and must be kept in a backpack or pocket the entire time you are at school.
Students who choose to disregard this policy will have their phone temporarily taken by the teacher and a classroom referral will be written. On the third infraction, parent/guardian will be required to pick up the phone. If a student chooses to bring a phone to school, the school is not responsible if the phone becomes missing or stolen.
- If a student needs to contact their parent or guardian for any reason using their cell phone, they will need to come to the school office where they will be allowed to do so.
