Low Ash Weekly Update - May 3rd 2024
Summer Term 1 - Week 4
It has been another busy week at Low Ash and, already we find ourselves more than half way through the half term. At last it has begun to feel like the summer term with some slightly warmer weather. As the weather (hopefully) continues to improve, please remember to send your children to school with sun hats and with sun cream applied.
Attendance and Punctuality
This week's school attendance 96.1%
Classes of the week 1RW & 6LC
Please can we remind you about the importance of good attendance and punctuality. We are receiving an increasing number of holiday and leave of absence requests which we cannot authorise unless there are exceptional circumstances AND your child already has good attendance. We appreciate the leave of absence request form does not give you much space to add additional detail so please submit further supporting evidence or additional documents should you need to.
With regards to punctuality, these last two weeks have seen an increase in pupils arriving late to school. Although you might think 5 minutes here and there is not important, we have included a graphic below which shows just how those minutes add up.
Low Ash Half Marathon Fundraiser
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated to the Low Ash half marathon fundraising. We have now exceeded our target of £2,000 which is absolutely fantastic. The money raised will go towards further enhancing our outdoor learning provision for pupils. It will help us fund Forest School resources and furnishings for our yurt (our new outdoor classroom which will hopefully be available to use in the last part of the summer term.)
We would also really appreciate support on the day so if anyone wants to come and cheer the team on at any point on the route, it would definitely help our motivation! We won't be running as one group as certain members - Mr. Moorhouse for example- are significantly speedier than others!! However we are all determined to complete the course.
If you would still like to donate you can do so by following this link.
School Council
The School Council met recently and have decided that they would like to hold a non-uniform day on 24th May 2024 to raise money for one of their chosen charities - Diabetes UK. (The children chose this charity). On the day, we would ask that all donations are made directly to the charity rather than to school. Below is the link to the website where you can find out more about the work of the charity and also donate.
STEM Week
A reminder that we are holding a STEM week (Science Technology, Engineering and Maths) during the final week of the half term - week commencing Monday 20th May. We would love to have a range of visitors in school talking to the pupils about their careers. If you, or anyone you know, has a career in any career linked to STEM and would be willing to talk to our children (either in person or remotely) then please contact the school office on office@lowash.bradford.sch.uk with the subject 'STEM week'. Thank you to anybody who has already contacted school about this.
