Recap of December!!!
Wow, December flew by, packed with so many exciting activities! We kicked off the month with the ESOL Holidays Around the World event, and let me tell you—it was amazing! I had the chance to try some incredible dishes prepared and shared by our wonderful families. Some were spicier than I’m used to, and others were so different from anything I’ve tried before. This event has easily been my favorite so far! The stations where we learned about how different cultures celebrate what we know as Christmas were fascinating. It was an all-around incredible experience.
Next, we hosted Family Fun Night at the Book Fair. It was such a pleasure to connect with parents, hear about their favorite authors, and learn what their kids enjoy reading. Following that, we had Family Fun Day at the Book Fair, where parents could visit the school during school hours. It was such a great opportunity for families to engage with us in a more relaxed setting.
Our Academic Team showed off their Mustang pride at the Academic Bowl—I’m so proud of all the students who participated! Then, we enjoyed the Merry Market, the kindergarten field trip, the PBIS Glow Party, and the Spelling Bee. Our choir had the chance to perform at the museum and for parents, which was a wonderful treat. To top it all off, we had the Kindergarten Program and the Pre-K Program, all leading up to a well-deserved holiday break.
I hope all our families had a joyful holiday season and a Happy New Year!

PBIS/Behavioral Tips
C = CHARACTER: Focus on building strong character by teaching values like respect, responsibility, kindness, and honesty, to make positive choices.
E = Expectations: Showing respect to others, following rules, being responsible for one's actions and belongings, completing assignments on time, working together as a team, and always trying one's best.
S = Safety: Following instructions in the hallways, keeping hands and objects to oneself, using kind words, and listening to the teachers.
What is PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports)?
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a system used in schools to encourage good behavior and create a safe, supportive learning environment. PBIS teaches students what behaviors are expected, rewards them for following these behaviors, and provides help for those who need it. Students earn Mustang Bucks as rewards for displaying positive behavior, which they can use for different incentives. Every nine weeks, the school holds a PBIS celebration to honor students' achievements. The goal is to reduce discipline problems, improve learning, and build a positive school culture where everyone feels safe and respected.
Centerville's PBIS Goal!
The goal of PBIS is to create a positive school climate, in which students learn and grow with a feeling of safety, school pride, and respect.
Students meeting classroom and school expectations earn Mustang Bucks for showing Mustang Pride. These bucks are used once a month to purchase a snack from our Snack Shack. Students also have the opportunity to participate in school wide celebrations each nine-week period to celebrate positive behavior.
