February 2024
Superintendent's Message
Greetings Lakeland Families,
It has been a busy month for the school district. During the 2023 legislative session, money was allocated for school safety projects. Each district was able to apply for funds to take care of large scale projects that would enhance school safety. Our safety team and the state inspector determined that our 4 foot fences were not adequate to protect our students. Beginning the middle of February the $250,000 project to replace fence lines began. We are currently working on the second round of the state safety grant for additional upgrades to our schools.
Our Facilities Director has been working all year with Emerick to ensure that we are ready to start the residing projects for Athol and Spirit Lake Elementary Schools as soon as school is out for the summer. I am excited to see these two schools get some much needed care.
Spring break is just around the corner. The last day of school for students is Thursday, March 21st. Friday is a professional day for teachers to get report cards completed. School will resume on Monday, April 1st.
Thank you for sharing your children with us! Have a wonderful March!
Warm Regards,
Lisa Arnold

THS and LHS Meet with Governor Little to Talk about Idaho Launch
Each of these students applied for the Idaho Launch Grant Program and were either accepted in the first round or are on the list for acceptance in the next round. During the meeting, Timberlake and Lakeland students, along with students from Post Falls High School, were able to ask the Governor questions about a wide range of topics including Idaho Launch. These two Lakeland School District schools are stand-outs in applications and acceptance to Idaho Launch. Both Lakeland and Timberlake excelled in their applications to the grant program with an 81% average compared to the state average of 46%. Timberlake High School students attending were Alycia Cameron, Zachary Schultz and Zach Paslay. Lakeland High School students attending were Emma Marshall, Jack Law, and Oliver Everett.
