Hello Woodsy Owls,
Every child, every day is finding a way to feel connected;
Every child, every day knows they have a champion they can turn to; and
Every child, every day is being challenged with new learnings and experiences.
Thank-you so much to those who volunteered and attended the PHEF BBQ & Brew on Saturday. PHEF is an integral supporter of Placer Hills Union School District. This wonderful organization is funding many of our excellent programs that supplement the learning here at Sierra Hills School. If you missed this fun this time, attend their next meeting Tuesday October 15th (6 pm @ the Meadow Vista Community Center) as they look forward to planning their Spring Fundraising Event.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up in ten days, and we all need to make sure it is on our calendars. If work schedules prevent attendance, discuss the possibility of a phone or cyber meeting during your break or lunch. This two-way communication is very important to your student's success and academic development. Taking dedicated time to let your teachers know about elements that might be affecting your child (family changes, health issues, emotional challenges etc) is crucial. Sierra Hills Staff understand that family discretion is very important and a personal matter. However, just letting your child's teacher know that things are bumpy at home, or there is a close relative with a medical struggle, or that the family pet is ill can hugely help the teacher understand those days when your little might be extra sensitive or more withdrawn. The details are not as important as it is important for the school to know which child is going through a challenging time outside of school. It is our goal to be the best school we can be for your child on each and every day of school especially on the days when they are needing that extra support.
Have a great day!

What is a School Site Council?
The Sierra Hills School Site Council is a group of teachers, parents, and classified employees who work with the principal to develop, review, and evaluate school improvement programs. Members of the Sierra Hills School Site Council are elected by their peers and serve for two years. For example, parents elect the parent representatives and teachers elect teachers.
The exact duties of SHS School Site Councils vary from year to year, but the Site Council generally makes decisions and advises the principal on the school safe plan and the academic or school improvement plan. In addition to academic planning, Site Councils are also responsible for making decisions about parent engagement and safety.
Meetings are held monthly and are open to the public.
Sierra Hills Elementary School September Menus
Please remember to let your little know what is on the menu. Sometimes, they change their mind when they get to school and find out that they really love or don't really like what the daily offering is.
As always, in California these meals are free to all students.
