Principal's Message:
June is a busy time of year for all of us! We celebrate Pride, Father’s Day, and Juneteenth. With just 6 days left for students in this school year, many June celebrations will occur outside of school. We are excited to close out the 24-25 school year with an eye toward the 25-26 school year (25-26 PPS calendar). As we get ready for a few final field trips, classroom celebrations, field day (tomorrow, map linked), volunteer appreciation luncheon (tomorrow in the library), Kindergarten commencing ceremony, and the 5th Grade Clap-out, I want to wish all a Happy Father’s Day, and Happy Juneteenth!
See you at Field Day Tomorrow!
Rainbow Pride Assembly: The Dojo dance team demonstrated Ballroom vogue, a dance style born in the 1980s, during our school assembly yesterday. Students, teachers and staff joined in the dance moves and a fun time was had by all! Ask your student to show you some notable dance moves we learned yesterday:
- duck walk: walking like a duck from a squatting position; similar to traditional Russian Folk Dancing
- dip: soft dips move to the floor like a cunning fox; sometimes preceded by a spin! Some spins occur from standing tall, but be careful with this one!
- cat walk: precise, side-to-side, walking like a cat; feet in rhythmic pattern, hands arms over head moved in opposite directions
- hand dance: telling a story through hands/arms movement.
Fire Drill: Students, Teachers, Staff conducted our last fire drill of the 24/25 school year. I am proud that Students' immediacy of efforts (single file-calm-quiet-lines; situationally aware) resulted in a successful evacuation of all souls in under two and a-half minutes. Another aspect of our vigilance is found in FOPFE's/FPE's parntership with FireWise. Thank you to Karen Gabriel and our local fire department. Our weekend volunteer efforts over the past three years resulted in successfully gravel-moating all portables, cutting back "fire ladders" and pulling back fire fuel materials from around the school buildings. This is important as the FPE school site is a designated community evacuation site in the event of emergencies.

Forest Park Film Club: 2025 Premiere Projection and you’re invited! Our young Forest Park filmmakers and actors are excited to invite their friends to share their stories - and a good laugh! It's finally time to show off the outcome of the 2025 Film Club: the two months of hard work resulted in 2 short movies that will be projected at the school library on Tuesday June 10th, at 2:30pm. We will also be projecting the short film created this summer, that recently premiered at the International Children's Film Festival in Lucknow, India with FPE kids “Changed for Good!” Everyone is welcome, families and friends included. Spread the word and invite your friends!

This letter is to inform you of this event and provide you with the proper notification as stated in the PPS Integrated Pest Management Plan, ORS 634.740. LINK

Personal safety community resources Often overlooked, personal safety is core to making our streets safe. It's part of our Vision Zero and Safe Routes to School programs. To realize a safe transportation system that provides all people access and mobility to where they need to go, we must proactively take care of each other.
