Doc Talk
Greetings, Phoenix! We are officially wrapping up the first week of the 24-25 school year. I must say that we are off to an amazing start! There have been a lot of changes and developments that your students are experiencing here at Discovery. Please see the following bullets for additional information:
- We are a smoke-free campus! Please do not use tobacco products on our premises.
- If your student took the Science CMAS test last Spring, we will be mailing the test results to you on September 3rd. If you would like to view how to interpret the test results, please see the link below.
- If you have not yet filled out your student's Annual Health Form and Free and Reduced Lunch Form, please get that done as soon as possible! Mrs. Flores is currently accepting them in the office.
- For students who signed up for night school- the first night is next Monday, the 19th. We will be starting sign-up for Quarter 2 night classes shortly!
- As Discovery High School continues to grow, we have received the Title 1 designation. There will be more information forthcoming, along with some paperwork that will require parent signatures form all families.

Students Preparing for Their Programs!
Career Start
Shaazi and Jycelia are two of our students taking classes at Pikes Peak State College this year! This dynamic duo is taking classes in Criminal Justice and Medical Pathways. They go half days at PPSC and the other half at Discovery!
International Salon & Spa Academy
Karen is our student taking classes at ISSA for Cosmetology! She goes to ISSA for half of the day and Discovery for the other half. Good luck this year!
MiLL
This is our MiLL crew! They are taking welding, cabinetry, or construction technology before school.
Foundations Stepping Into the Circle
Stepping into the circle is a traditional foundations activity that all students participate in. It is the last opportunity for the students to choose to be in the Discovery program, and it is also a welcome to Discovery!
Fun Friday @ Mentor
For our first Fun Friday of the year, teachers had a different activity in each classroom! Mr. Slaughter had American Ninja Warrior playing, Ms. Hagmaier's class went for a walk, Mr. Wadsworth had Pictionary, Mrs. Staggs did the Wall activity in Foundations, and Mrs. Thomas took on coloring. Here are the highlights!
