📝🏫🎒 Final Week of the 1st Nine Weeks 🎒🏫📝
This week marks the final week of the 1st nine weeks of school. It is the last opportunity for students to turn in any missing assignments or improve their grades before report cards are finalized. Additionally, this is the final week for students to meet their 1st nine weeks AR goals (1st-5th Grades), which are listed further below in this newsletter. Please encourage your child to complete any outstanding work and reach their reading goals before the deadline.

The book fair will be open from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Thursday, with a Family Literacy Night on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 5:30-7:00 PM. Come enjoy a fall literacy activity, snacks, and shop for books! The book fair will close at 12:00 PM on Friday, October 11.
🔥🚒🧯 Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 7-11)🧯🚒🔥
Fire Prevention Week is a great time to ensure your family is prepared for a fire emergency. One of the most important steps is creating a fire escape plan that includes knowing two ways out of every room and establishing a safe meeting place outside. Practice the plan regularly with your family so everyone knows what to do in case of an emergency. Additionally, check the batteries in your home smoke detectors to ensure they are functioning properly—working smoke alarms can give you the early warning needed to escape safely. By being proactive, you can help protect your loved ones and stay safe.

Please plan ahead! There will be NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS on Monday, October 14, 2024. Friendly reminder that the LFCISD calendar is found below and will help you stay up-to-date with district holidays and teacher planning days.
Literacy Trunk or Treat - October 24, 2024, 5:30-7:00 PM
Our Family Literacy Trunk or Treat is coming up later this month, and we invite all of our OES families to attend this fun-filled event! Are you interested in helping with our annual literacy-themed Trunk or Treat? We are looking for volunteers to sponsor treats, donate books, create a trunk, and even serve as guest readers. ✅ Parent Academic Conferences (PAC) Meetings ✅
Your child’s teacher will be reaching out soon to schedule Parent Academic Conferences, which will take place between October 15 and November 15. These important meetings follow the first nine weeks of school and provide an opportunity to discuss report card grades and your child's progress. We encourage you to attend your scheduled meeting to ensure continued communication about your child's academic journey.
