Curriculum & Instruction
"The Outsiders" Greaser and Soc Student and Teacher Dress Up Day
Eighth Graders just finished reading the novel “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton. The book talks about friendship, family, and the challenges of growing up, which helps students relate to the characters and their stories. It also opens up conversations about social justice, empathy, and understanding different viewpoints. To celebrate finishing the book, the students enjoyed their first annual Greaser and Soc Day!
Maki-Maki Project
In Mr. Emanuel's music class, he guides his students through the exciting Maki-Maki project, where creativity and rhythm collide. Through this innovative program, students explore diverse musical materials—from instruments to digital tools—empowering them to compose, experiment, and collaborate in ways that ignite their love for music. With Maki-Maki, students aren't just learning theory; they're crafting their own musical journeys, discovering new sounds, and building skills that will last a lifetime.
Paper Relief Sculptures
At the start of the marking period, the 7th-grade sculpture classes began creating Paper Relief Sculptures. Through practicing paper folding techniques and using color to convey personal expression or cultural identity, students crafted geometric mandalas that beautifully synthesized these concepts.
World War II Diorama
Mikey Vitulano has created a fantastic WWII themed diorama for his classmates. His enthusiasm for Social Studies is contagious and he brings so much joy to our school community.
Public Speaking Skills
Mr. Pawlyk works with students on their public speaking skills while presenting talking points based around what it is like to be a student in 2025.
Symmetrical Radial Designs
In Ms. Murphy's middle school art class, students create unique radial designs by incorporating their names into symmetrical patterns. This lesson helps them explore balance, repetition, and creativity, while strengthening their art skills. Through this project, they gain a deeper understanding of design principles in a fun and personal way.

Community Events & Outreach
Girls Rock STEAM at Nanuet HS is a Huge Success
A big thank you to Mrs. Schucker, Mrs. Murphy, Mrs. Hudak, Mrs. Keaveny and the entire science department in the the Nanuet UFSD who organized and hosted an amazing Girls Rock STEAM event at Nanuet HS this past Saturday. Our Girls Rock STEAM Community Outreach program focused on providing young women in grades 5 through 8 in this region an opportunity to engage in meaningful, thought provoking STEAM related activities. We involve members of our community who have various STEAM related experiences and knowledge to share with our participants. These presenters provide rich and engaging activities for our young women that will encourage them to further pursue STEAM related educational opportunities. Through our work we hope to decrease the gender gap in STEAM education and opportunities for young women.
NYSUT's Disconnected Conference
Nearly 500 educators and students attended NYSUT’s Disconnected conference, where they delved into one of the most critical education issues of our time: the effects of cellphones, social media and technology on schools, learning and mental health.
