Hornets,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to address and acknowledge the challenging start we have experienced this month. It has undoubtedly been a difficult time for our school community, and I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and understanding.
Firstly, I want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority. We have been working diligently to address the issues that have arisen and to implement measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Our dedicated staff and faculty are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
Despite the challenges, I am proud of the resilience and strength our students have shown. They continue to demonstrate their dedication to their education and their compassion for one another. It is in times of adversity that our true character shines through, and I am confident that we will emerge from this experience stronger and more united.
As we move forward, we will continue to focus on fostering a positive and inclusive school culture. There are two specific areas that I would like to address this month, with of course safety at the top of mind.
School Events: Our goal is to create a positive and safe environment where all students can enjoy and benefit from school events. We have noticed that, on occasion, some students have struggled to maintain appropriate behavior during these functions. To ensure that our school events are enjoyable and safe for everyone, we kindly ask for your support in reinforcing the following expectations with your child: Respect for others, Responsibility, Safety and Inclusivity
Respect for Others: Students should show respect for their peers, teachers, and event staff. This includes using polite language, listening when others are speaking, and following directions.
Responsibility: Students are expected to take responsibility for their actions. This means arriving on time, participating positively, and adhering to the rules and guidelines set for each event.
Safety: The safety of all attendees is our top priority. Students should avoid any behavior that could potentially harm themselves or others, including roughhousing, running in crowded areas, or any form of aggressive behavior.
Inclusivity: We encourage students to be inclusive and considerate of their classmates. This involves being mindful of others' feelings and ensuring that no one feels left out or uncomfortable during school events.
Returning to School Post-Tragedy: I want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students remain our top priority. We have been working diligently to address the issues that have arisen and to implement measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Our dedicated staff and faculty are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
We understand that these events may have caused concern and anxiety within our community. Please know that we are here to support you and your children. Our school counselors and support staff are available to provide assistance and to address any questions or concerns you may have. Open communication between home and school is vital, and we encourage you to reach out if you need any support.
It is imperative to emphasize that any threats made towards the school will be treated with the utmost seriousness, and students will be held responsible for their behavior. Twenty Fulton County Schools have responded to social media threat/rumors with official letters since Thursday morning (All zones have at least one school; 2 ES, 7 MS, 11 HS).
Please continue reporting any threatening or disruptive behavior through our designated channels and assist us in reinforcing the importance of responsible online conduct among our youth. It is crucial to emphasize the significant repercussions associated with making threats online.
Thank you for being the very best part of Roswell High School. It will take a community effort to overcome the most recent challenges and to uphold our spirit of excellence!
Your Partner in Education,
Principal Miley

SCHOOL SAFETY
Safety Drills: At Roswell High School, the safety and well-being of our students are our top priorities. We understand that your child's security is of utmost importance to you, and we want to assure you that we are committed to providing a safe learning environment. To ensure preparedness in the event of an emergency, we have conducted safety drills over the past two weeks. These drills are designed to familiarize students and staff with the procedures to follow in various situations, including fire, severe weather, lockdowns, and other emergencies.
What You Should Know
- Types of Drills: We conduct a variety of drills to cover different scenarios, such as fire drills, lockdown drills, and evacuation procedures. Each drill is carefully planned to minimize disruption while ensuring that students understand what to do in an actual emergency.
- Communication: In the event of an actual emergency, we will notify parents as soon as it is safe to do so. We ask that you keep your contact information up to date with the school to ensure you receive timely notifications. Reassurance for Students: We understand that drills can be unsettling for some students. Our staff is trained to handle these situations with care, providing clear instructions and reassurance. We encourage you to talk to your child about the importance of these drills in keeping everyone safe.
- Parental Role: Your support is crucial. Please talk to your child about the importance of following safety protocols and listening to their teachers during drills. Reinforce that these measures are in place to protect them and their classmates. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work together to ensure a safe and secure environment for all our students. Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education and safety.
