This month we recognize and celebrate Hispanic Heritage from Sept 15 to October 15th.
Thank you for having the difficult conversations with students in the wake of the tragic events that have unfolded in Barrow County and across our state. Our top priority continues to remain students and staff safety. Students will be asked to go through safety screenings and drills will be conducted to ensure our students know what to do in the event of a real emergency. Students will participate in our annual drill this Wednesday. A parent letter is attached to the email and located in the SMORE.
Garrison is a No Place for Hate School and Its No Place for Hate Week! Students may dress in the appropriate color of the day with uniform bottoms this week and participate in daily activities. Monday's color is Red with uniform bottoms. A video created by another designated school is located in the SMORE.
Fouth and Fifth Grade parents, please be present for a CHOICE parent meeting on September 19 in the Yamacraw at 5:00 pm.
Attendance Matters! Attendance is more than just coming to school. Attendance also means coming to school on time. Students miss valuable seat time when they are constantly late. Set a goal to be here on time so that your children get a great start to their day! They deserve it!
Late pickup ends at 2 pm. Please do not arrive after 2 pm with the expectation of picking up children early. Thank you for your support as we work to safely dismiss students.
The word for the week is Courteous. Courteous means polite, respectful or considerate in manner. May this be a week of considering others and showing courtesy.
Please continue to monitor the Garrison website and Facebook page. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out via email or contact the school.
We are Team Garrison with One Goal: Student Achievement! We are “Gator” Ready and "Gator" Proud and we are Gators who know the importance of being Courteous!!! Enjoy the SMORE!

- For those parents who may be having trouble with PS/online, a print version is available.
- For print versions, parents please fill out the front and back of the forms and sign/return as soon as possible to the media staff to process your request.

Assistant Principal's Corner
Please remember not to block the entrance/exit to the Blake Apartments on Cohen St during arrival and dismissal. Pack your patience for Arrival and Dismissal. Don't forget to use turn signals. Please do not hold your phones to talk on them in the arrival and dismissal lines (it could make all the difference). We are glad you are here!
For those who watch the skies, get ready for a partial lunar eclipse that can be viewed on September 18th. FYI, a lunar eclipse can be viewed as you look at the moon and the Earth moves between the sun and the moon, causing the moon to appear to get smaller and smaller. This event for us will be a partial event, so the moon will not become totally shaded. Saturn should be visible all night. Jupiter will present a late night view. Enjoy!
Keep your eye on the tropics during the hurricane season. Don't forget to lay in a supply of batteries. Keep your car gassed up as weather systems approach. Also, remember to fill your bathtub with water when hunkering down to weather a storm. If the power goes out, you will want water to be able to fill the toilet bowl.
Have a great school year.
Mr. Ailes
