November 2024
Message From the Principal
October was an exciting month at Berry Hill! Our students participated in Bullying Prevention Assemblies, where they discussed peer conflict and bullying, guided by our dedicated Social Worker, Mrs. Mullooly, and Psychologist, Mrs. Kupferman. Through role-playing different scenarios, students learned how to respond effectively to conflicts.
Our Kindergarteners had a special visit from the Syosset Fire Department. They learned about fire safety and even got to explore the fire trucks!
The Berry Hill PTA hit a home run with PARP week! This year’s theme, “Take Me Out to the Ball-PARP,” transformed our school into a lively baseball stadium. Students read countless books, and we proudly donated 1,386 books to the Book Fairies. Thank you to all the families for your generous donations. Students also enjoyed the book fair, guest readers, and an assembly with King Arthur the Author.
To top it all off, we had a fantastic Halloween Parade and welcomed our K-2 families into the classrooms for a celebration. It was a memorable month, and we can’t wait for all the exciting events November has in store!
Here are some questions to ask your child about Berry Hill this month:

- What was your favorite thing about PARP week? What was the best book you read this month? Did you enjoy Sir Arthur the Author's author visit?

Halloween at Berry Hill
Berry Hill's Gourd-geous Creations!
We had a blast admiring our friends’ decorated pumpkins. We hope everyone enjoyed creating them with their families!
Syosset Fire Department Visits Kindergarten
Our Kindergarten classes were honored to host the Syosset Fire Department! During their visit, students engaged in discussions about fire safety and the importance of having a designated safe meeting place for their families in case of an emergency. The firefighters put on their gear, helping students understand that they are there to assist and should not be feared. Additionally, all students had the exciting opportunity to explore the fire truck!
Bullying Prevention at Berry Hill
Our School Social Worker, Mrs. Mullooly, and School Psychologist, Mrs. Kupferman, had grade level assemblies focused on bullying prevention. The goal of these assemblies was to help students recognize bullying and to give them tools and strategies to support both prevention and intervention. We will continue to support our students with this type of work all year long.
On Wednesday, October 16th, Berry Hill celebrated Unity Day, a day we unite to "stand up" against bullying. To participate in Unity Day, individuals, schools, communities, and businesses wear orange to show unity for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion to prevent students from being bullied. We thank our students, staff, and families for wearing orange on October 16th.
Take Me Out to the Ball-PARP Week 10/21-10/25
Thank you to our PTA for a terrific week at Berry Hill! This year's theme wasTake Me Out to the Ball PARP! Students enjoyed our Kick Off Assembly and watched their teachers share their favorite books and reading moments! We dressed up in our favorite sports gear and attended the Book Fair! It was wonderful to see our amazing 5th grade PRIDE Pals supporting our younger students with their book shopping. We had guest readers from Central Administration, including Dr. Rogers, share their favorite books with us too! To end the week, we had a wonderful author visit from Sir Arthur the Author and saw how many books our community donated to the Book Fairies! It was quite a week!
King Arthur the Author- PARP Assembly
It was a sea of red at our PARP Assembly with King Arthur the Author. Our students proudly wore their PRIDE shirts. We danced together and were reminded about the importance of respect and showing kindness towards others. King Arthur has played on the Harlem Wizards team for the past fifteen years and also spread a message about not giving up and pursuing your dreams.
Berry Hill's PARP-nerships!
Students had opportunities to read with friends in different grade levels.
