Little Trojan News
Centerburg Elementary Newsletter - October 2024
From the Principal - Mr. Thompson
Please check PowerSchool often to keep informed of you child's progress in each of his/her classes. If you need help logging in to PowerSchool, please contact the school.
Reminder that supervision does not begin until 8:25am unless your student is coming in for breakfast at 8am.
*Parents please send a note in the planner or to attendance.el@centerburgschools.org for any and all going home changes. After school activities have begun and we need a note if your child is staying after school. One note for the season/year of the activity is all that is necessary. We do not always get a roster of students staying after school from the advisors/coaches.*
Attendance Matters! Chronic absenteeism is when a student misses 10% or more of the school year for any reason, including excused, unexcused, and disciplinary absences. For example, in a 180 day school year, a student is chronically absent if they miss 18 days, or 2-3 days per month of school. Check out the video below that Centerburg Schools created to inform the public about attendance.
Welcome New Staff!
I graduated from Capital University in 2022 with my bachelors in early childhood education. For the past two years I was teaching at the Centerburg preschool, and this is my first year here at the elementary as a second grade teacher. I am loving second grade and the kids I get to work with each day! I can't wait to continue to serve the Centerburg community and get to know the people here even better in the years to come!

All Kids Bike Program
Centerburg is one of the pilot schools in Knox County that is starting a new program replacing the Crunch Out Obesity program that 4th grade did in the past.
The United Way of Knox County sponsors the program. All Kindergarten and First grade students will go through the six week program to teach students how to ride a bike in PE class. After this year it will be for Kindergarten students only each year. Mr. Dodrill is excited to teach the students how to ride a bike using 'glider bikes' that turn into regular bikes. Each student will also get a bike helmet as part of the program. Check out the website for more info: https://allkidsbike.org/
