We believe BCSC schools have the best teachers around! One of the ways we like to recognize them for their efforts is by working with you and the community to nominate teachers of the year to represent each school within the district. If you would like to nominate a teacher for this honor, please use the nomination form below. Nominations will close 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 25.

BCSC Kindergarten enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year will be available online beginning February 1.

Please note the following guidelines:

• Any child that is 5 years of age by August 1, 2022, is eligible for Kindergarten.
• All parents/guardians must present the following items to enroll their child for school: the child’s birth certificate, immunization records, and proof of residency. The proof of residency can be a utility bill (not a cell phone bill), but the address reflected must match the student’s home address.
• For further questions, please contact the school your child will attend.

Kindergarten online enrollment will become available online February 1, 2022 at www.bcscschools.org/enrollment

Central Middle School's Theatre Department cordially invites you to experience their rendition of School House Rock Jr. Live. During the weekend of February 4-6, this talented cast and crew of over 40 students, including Columbus East High School mentors, will perform three shows that are sure to leave you smiling and singing along. On Friday and Saturday, the show starts at 7:00 pm. On Sunday, the show will begin at 2:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased for $5 at the door and masks are required. All of these shows will be performed in the Gray Box at Central Middle School.

On Monday, January 24, BCSC met for the second School Board meeting of the month. A few of the highlights from this meeting included:

-CSA Lincoln Elementary Best Practice Presentation from Principal Brett Findley and Delaney George

-STEM Presentation from Davida Harden

-BCSC Technology Update with Nick Williams and his department

-COVID-19 Plan of Action Update from Dr. Roberts

-School Bus Stop Arm Camera Report from Dr. Brett Boezeman

The day after this meeting, Dr. Roberts testified before the Indiana Senate advocating for an increased penalty for stop arm violations and Dr. Boezeman was featured on Fox 59 News about BCSC's plan to add stop arm cameras to all buses.

The BCSF Stars and the Harlem Wizards are all set to meet on the hard wood again. Join them on March 6, 2022, at 2pm at Columbus North High School's Memorial Gymnasium. Doors for this annual event will open at 1pm. You won't want to miss this family fun afternoon! Purchase tickets here.

Did you know that over 11% of students at BCSC are emergent multilinguals? As part of Indiana's state requirements, these students will be taking the annual WIDA Access for ELLs during the months of January and February to assess their academic English language proficiency. Please contact your school's EL teacher if you have any questions.
