Dear Henry Families,
Teaching and learning opportunities in Anna Henry classrooms are going strong this month. By now, students have settled into the routine of being involved with school-wide expectations and learning procedures in our K-6 classrooms. As tradition continues, our team and your students remain busy with grade level instructional lessons, small group classroom interventions, enrichment opportunities, and school community events.
Did you know that Anna Henry teachers routinely participate in professional learning to enhance their teaching expertise? On a weekly basis, teachers attend Wednesday professional learning on site after school. Each quarter teachers participate in full day professional development with other TUSD educators. Our Henry teachers even participate in summer workshops and TUSD educational opportunities.
Our school continues to develop our instructional capacity with our students in the classroom daily. This year you may hear your student come home and talk about the learning targets and success criteria from daily lessons. For the past year, Henry teachers have participated in professional development with goals to strengthen instruction in the classroom.
Goals for Anna Henry this year include the following. Our teachers will design and prepare daily lessons that establish clear learning expectations by unpacking grade level standards and identifying learning progressions to create relevant Learning Targets and Success Criteria. Every Gila Monster at Anna Henry deserves a high-quality learning experience that embraces excellence with intentionality. When teachers design and prepare lessons with well-developed Learning Targets and Success Criteria, students are clear about the purpose of their learning. This particularly important work is not possible without our Henry families. On time daily attendance is vital for all students to receive the especially important instruction that begins at the start of the school day. Please help you student be their absolute best by helping them arrive to school on time for learning.
This month in September, Gila Monsters are learning about the Character Strong trait “Respect.” Respect is also one of our 4 Bs at Anna Henry. Students are participating in a variety of classroom lessons with their teachers and our school counselor, Ms. Eman. Be sure to ask your student about this learning and what Respect means to them.
It was great to have our families join us this week for parent / teacher conferences with our team. So many students and families were able to visit our Scholastic Book Fair during conference week to purchase new reading materials, too.
Respectfully,
Thomas Heminger, principal
Thank you to our Henry families and staff for making the fall bookfair a success!
