Parent Summersill Scoop
September 21, 2024
Welcome Eagles!
Be on the lookout for a Federal Impact Aid Card to go home on Monday, September 23. The first classroom in each grade level prek-5th to return all of their cards completed will receive a popsicle party!
Parents, please send in a note to school when your child is absent, has a late arrival or early checkout. This affects your child's attendance. Attendance plays a huge part in your child's success and passing their grade. School hours are from 8:30-3:15.
Parents of third graders may view BOG scores. If you have questions regarding your child's scores on Powerschool, please contact your child's teacher.
On Friday, September 27 we are having a Rock Your School Day! Students across all grade levels will be emersed in a hands-on learning experience that will be shared around the dinner table. We also want staff and students to dress in a decade of their choice. Our theme this year is Groovy Minds Shine Bright!
On Thursday, September 26 we will have our first PTO meeting at 4:30 in the Media Center and an Open House/Curriculum Night from 5:00-6:30. We encourage all families to attend to learn more about how your child is doing in school and ways you can assist at home. Interim reports are also going home on Thursday, so please check your child's bookbag.
We are having a Fall Festival on Friday, October 18 from 5-7pm. Donations are needed for this special event.
Red Ribbon Week is October 24-31st. This week we will raise awareness about drug and violence prevention.
Our first ever Mother and Son Sneaker Ball is Friday, October 25 from 5:30-7:30. Proceeds from this event will go towards beautifying our campus.
We love volunteers! We will have another volunteer training on Thursday, September 26 at 8:30am and 12:00pm. You must attend a volunteer training yearly and get fingerprinted at the district office every five years. You do not have to sign up to attend, but we ask that you sign in at the front office. Trainings will last approximately 30 minutes. You will also learn how to get involved with the Parent Teacher Organization.
If we do not have your child's health assessment and immunization record by Wednesday, September 25 they will not be able to attend school. Final notices will be sent home on Monday.
We are excited to offer Robotics Club for our 2nd-5th grade students this year! If selected, your child must commit to practicing on Tuesday afternoons and competing on a Saturday in March. If interested, please have your child contact their teacher before September 30.
If you have not signed onto Class Dojo, please do so soon! Your child's teacher has already sent the link to join. This is another way we communicate information.
Contact our data manager, Jennifer Fountain to sign up for Parent Portal. This gives you access to up to date information on student attendance for your child and third through fifth grade assignments. https://onslow.powerschool.com/public/

SaySomething App
We would like to remind our families about the Say Something reporting platform.
Say Something provides students and adults a secure, anonymous reporting platform for concerns related to violence, suicide, bullying, self-harm and other forms of threatening behavior. Tips are received by trained personnel, who will notify the proper authorities, whether they be school administrators or law enforcement.
The platform is easily accessible via the 1:1 tools on student devices. Tips can also be submitted via phone, on the Say Something website, or through the Say Something mobile app.
School safety is a community effort, and we thank our students, staff, and families for their support as we work together to keep one another safe. Remember, if you see something, please say something.
